Warning light question

Hey guys, what is that red light with the exclamation point mean? I rode my bike last night it was ok. Then this morning the red light by the brake failure light stayed on. The bike ran fine, but I decided to head back home during rush hour just in case.
Rich.

The one to the left of the blinking brake light? You have ABS?
Most likely it would mean that the voltage from the battery is low. How old is your battery. Did you have a lot of electrical things on when starting? Was it cold, like ambient temperature cold?
There are many threads on this light, though. Chances are if you re-started the bike after running for a little while it would go out. I have found that one should always let the lights cycle through their deal before turning the engine over. Failing to do this and the lights will act up. But the first thing to rule out is a battery going south.

The ABS requires battery voltage above 11 VDC or it will act up

Thanks for the reply. I remember the battery was over 5 years old and it was a little hard starting in the winter. Thanks again to all the good information.

Time for a new one; you might also invest in a voltmeter just for grins...they are cheap, esp at harbor freight.
I had a similar situation during the iwnter on cold mornings. I think it may have just been too thick oil (20w50) and not being on the tender. Since it has warmed the light doesn't stay on anymore, so I am carefully watching my 2.5 year old Odyssey for signs of arthritis during the summer, and if I imagine it is getting weak I will replace. I think I was asking too much of it in the winter. Been checking the morning charge and it has been ok, and the load charge is mostly ok, but I have a lot of farkles that boot up with cranking.
