BMW R1200R R1150R/T F800 K1200R R1100R/T R1250R RnineT Message Board

I am new to this forum, and to BMW's so, I thought I would introduce myself.

I purchased my first BMW, a 2004 R1150R Rockster 80 Edition a few days ago.
I've seen information saying the Rockster 80 was a 2003 model but in the USA they list it as a 2004...
Mine was built in March 2003.
It is excellent shape showing only 9800 miles on the odometer.
It is a special edition, numbered 281 out of the 2,003 produced worldwide.

I love it!

I moved to BMW's from Triumph's after owning an older yellow 1997 Daytona T595 and a black 1999 Daytona T595.
I've been motorcycling for more than 15 years now and finally decided a BMW was a good choice.

I'm from the U.S. and there isn't a big following for BMW's in my state...Texas.

So, I hope to share so time and knowledge with all of you.

I updated my last post due to some wrong information.
My Rockster is #281 out of 2003 made.
In the USA they list it as a 2004 year model motorcycle which is a little confusing.
But, I checked the special edition number plate and sure enough it is #281 out of 2003.

The limited edition was a bit of a selling feature to me as I won't be seeing many of these on my local highways.

Welcome to the board. I also drive a 04 Rockster, which Ive had for 2 years and love it,except for the brick they call a stock seat.

Welcome to the group, and enjoy your new Edition 80 Rockster.

The vehicle year for the Edition 80 is a bit strange here in USA... my bike has 03/03 build date, and the motorcycle obviously commemorates the 80th anniversary of the 1923 BMW motorcycle heritage, but state vehicle licensing and insurance company define it as 2004. Whatever.

Lots of good information here on the board, in both the R1150R Roadster and Rockster sections. Check out the "search" feature to find most everything and anyhing you might want to know about these bikes.

I am really excited about this motorcycle. It have had many over my lifetime but this one is special.

I lusted after a K1200R but just couldn't afford it. I didn't have 9k to drop on a used one even though there were plenty of them in my area.
Nobody has a Rockster around where I ride so, I get a bit of curious excitement from other riders.

This fabulous R1150R Rockster 80 was inexpensive and nearly the twin of the K1200R.

Now that I have the Rockster though I wouldn't want anything else...unless the lottery comes calling.
