Battery failure and ABS pump failure,a cautionary tale

Bike turned over very slowly despite having been on a BMW charger. I put back on charger for a couple of days and measured 13.49 volts at terminals. Still slow to turn over but started so off to the dealer. They tested battery under load
and reported it defective. Build date of bike is 5/07. BMW warrenty on battery is 2 years which is probably instructive as
to expected battery life. Dealer replaced with Westco gel (ytx14bs) at cost of $126.97.
The brake failure light was on as it had been before with low voltage but did not go off with new battery.
Service manager reported bike was throwing a code indicating ABS pump failure but BMW required them to to go through an hour long diagnostic tree before they would authorize replacement. I asked them to proceed and they confirmed ABS pump
failure and ordered a new pump. Thank DOG the 3 year warranty has a few more months. The ABS pump costs $1800
and requires about 2 hours labor.
Service manager thinks low voltage episodes may influence ABS pump failure. He has seen several similar scenarios
recently.
