New owner in the UK

Hi there, picking up a late 2003 R1150R next week and really looking forward to it
It seems to have most of the usual additions (rack, screen, hand guards, rack etc) apart from rocker cover guards, only place that seems to sell these are Motorworks, anyone know of anywhere else this side of the pond ?
Only 12k miles on the clock, hoping to do a lot more over the summer - if we get one over here of course
No doubt will be posting a lot more over the coming weeks.
Cheers

Go on UKGSers and see if Steptoe is selling any of his "stanton-alike" aluminium headguards. Highly recommended.

Thanks for the link and welcome, much appreciated.
The 'Steptoes' head guards certainly look substantial, as is the price at £135 ($190) ! Could be money well spent though of course....
The bike I'm collecting will probably need a service (major I would think) soon, what kind of rates are UK BMW main dealers charging for this ? Also, are there any good independent specialist servicing places in the London/Middx/Herts/Bucks/Berks areas that anyone can recommend ? (This is my first BMW by the way, still have a couple of old Hondas).
Cheers, Ian

I can HEARTILY recommend the head guards - I have a pair of Stantons and they've not only saved the heads on several drops - they've been fitted to 2 different bikes in that time too. The OE BMW ones tend to break up after 1 drop, the ally ones don't.
As for dealers - if it wasn't for their astronomical prices I'd recommend Vines of Guildford - but then ALL bmw dealers are expensive.
Self-Servicing is pretty easy if you're at all handy with the spanner twirling.

I'm doing the 72K on my bike this weekend.

Steptoe is held in high regard on the ukgser forum for all repairs and servicing of BMW R series bikes. He also charges a lot less than the dealers.
Hank.

Here's your man, fazer1k:
http://bgmbmw.com/
He'll be doing mine. Naturally he's very busy but comes very highly recommended. (£58/hr inc.)
Has all the BMW diagnostic gear and is a nice bloke too!
He's in Pembury near Tunbridge Wells.

Thanks Jeffers, will put him on the list, only problem is the 70 mile trek over there for me...
Do they also carry out MoTs ? Would be good to combine both at the same time.

Welcome,
I've dealt with motobins and had no problems.
Look for Damien.
