Removing gas tank

Just wondering if there is a set procedure to remove the tank. All help would be appreciated

seat off
oil cooler covers off (2 screws each)
oil coolers off (3 screws each)
Loosen tail bodywork (2 screws each side. pull the bodywork back until you can hook the supporting arms on top of the frame rails)
side cover under tank off (1 screw)
fuel connects undone
breather pipes (right side, at end of tank - make sure you disconnect from the connection stubs in such a way that you don't get them mixed up)
unbolt main tank bolt
lift tank slightly with left hand to undo electrical connector
lift tank - left hand under rear, right hand under front at top of tank and rotate rear upwards about 10/15deg, then pull tank backwards.

Thanks alot for the imput.. 1st time off with the tank,I might as well do it the right way. Time for a new Battery

Hi I saw the video, but I have a question, I'm removing the tank to reach the battery terminals to install a Scorpio alarm and surprising I haven't seen a DIY for it on here though I've seen it for other BMW bikes elsewhere {
http://www.s1000rrforum.com/forum/s1000 ... -done.html}, it occurred to me that since I still have the plastic QC's I might as well spring for the 'upgrades'. I've read the info and controversy regarding the Buna VS Vitton O-rings.
Is the jury still out on that? Are we settle on the best alternative to the crappo QC's Bavaria put on our thorough-breds?
From what i read, there's an 'ultimate alternative' and a 'workable solution', folks were going to evaluate the 'workable solution' which was cheaper to see if it held up as well as the 'ultimate'. I don't mind paying top-dollar but i need to be certain, which is what I have you folks for
!

As for OE quick-connect options, the metal (nickel over brass) versions are good. Length of assembly is shorter than other dry-break couplings that might be considered. Bought some from Beemer Boneyard. I prefer using quick-connects over the brass tubing option.
Note that I have not yet installed the metal QC set. To date my tank has been on & off 30-40 times, given the constant fiddling with ABS removal project, gizmo installs, and ongoing speedometer fix project. I broke one male QC piece over time, but am still using all plastics until the mood strikes to replace. Using ample petroleum jelly on QC sections has worked well so far.
