Strange Sound

I am the proud owner of a 02 R1150 RA with 18,000 miles on the clock. I am a newbie to this sight, but not to BMW's. I started riding in 1963 and purchased my first BMW in 1976 a R60/6 in 1976 with 14,000 on the clock from Brown Motor Works in Pamona, CA. I have been hocked ever since. I need help identifying a strange tapping sound coming from the right cylinder about 5 seconds after start-up lasting for about another 5 seconds before disappearing. It only occurs at cold start-up. The tapping was never present before I installed Rubber Chickens timing chain tensioner. I installed the tensioner but did not start engine. I then torqued the heads, adjusted the valves and balanced the fuel injection, started the engine and the tapping was present as stated above. I have not ridden since the adjustments were made, just started the bike up a few times. And this is not my first time torqueing heads and a justing valves.

"Tappy valves are happy valves?" Or so the random saying goes. I don't actually have a clue. It sounds like the valves, as mine always tapped on a cold start, until I got them adjusted; now they tap all the time, but mostly noticeable on decel (if you can hear it over my exhaust back-firing).

Did you mean Cam Chain Tensioner?
If so, are you sure you bought a RIGHT SIDE CCT from RCRG? I wasn't aware that they sold OE parts......
They are different from the LEFT SIDE UPGRADE kit he sells, and I wonder if the parts would be inter-changeable........
Not saying that they wouldn't be, but the R and L CCTs are 2 distinct items....

The RCR Oilhead Timing Chain Tensioner upgrade kit for the left side Cam Chain Tensioner assembly. This is the device I installed. Like I said, both heads were torqued, valves adjusted and the throttle bodies balanced at the same time the tensioner was installed. Is there any relationship between the valve adjustment and the tensioner?
