After months of deliberation, I finally decided to order a Cee Bailey's 22" windshield. I mounted the bracket with spacers under the front mount to tilt it back and then attached a yard stick to the bracket. My son used a level to measure the line from my mouth to the yard stick. (It actually came out to 23".)

My measurement was consistent with their size recommendation when I factored in lowered saddle, shorter inseam and longer torso.

It also came out the same as my K75 shield (Factory shield and extremely effective) would have been if it was fitted the same way.

CB 22" Tilted back until the bracket is nearly in contact with the speedo housing. Quick test ride last Wed down the highway. Up to 90 mph I can leave my Arai helmet open. Tolerable wind noise at normal sit-up. Dead quiet while standing. Too much noise if sitting up extra, i.e. stretching.

No buffetting, even when passing large trucks.

I still have a few cosmetic touches and then I will shoot pix and give a complete presentation, prolly in about a week.

I am very pleased with the result!

Height 5'8", inseam 29". Low comfort saddle. When seated, I find I'm eye to eye with guys 5' 10".

As posted elsewhere, I kluged up a device to tilt the windshield bracket as far back as possible. The speedometer is the gating factor. I left enough room for a piece of shirtcardboard to fit. Then I attached a yard stick to the bracket. My son held up a level from my mouth to the yardstick. It hit at 23". I chose to go for the 22".

Once I ordered the windshield, I set about to construct a permanent spacer. It's nearly complete. I have been taking pix and will learn how to post them oince I'm done. Right now, the spacer and a home made rear fender extender/badge bar are all primed and awaiting a top coat of paint on Tuesday morning. Maybe two coats... there won't likely be any riding for the next couple of days.

When the shield arrived and I installed it, my first reaction was that I should have gotten the 20". However, once I hit the highway, I was very pleased with my choice. I really couldn't afford to be trying multiple windshields. I am thankful for all the windshield threads in this forum which I have been studying since last August.

I suspect a "general" conclusion can be reached with the Cee-Bailey/Stock Tall Shield bracket..

It just works better at more of an angle. I'm finally pretty happy with my shield - and that's after about 8 different ones and LOTS of experiments. Be nice if C-B provided the spacer wouldn't it? Perhaps someone considering buying one might talk to them about that...

How do you tilt the shield? Even with earplugs, my 22" CB shield is too loud, giving me a turbulent blast at eyebrow level.

Some smart person (who isn't at work at the moment) should start a thread called "Tipping back a Cee Bailey's Windshield".
Then searching would be a breeze (instead of a doddle).

Ok- I got my 22" Cee-Bailey windshield today and took it out for a test ride. My teeth still hurt! The wind blast on my head actually caused my teeth to chatter. I've searched around for Don C's mount block thread and have not had any luck. Can someone provide me with his contact information so I can order a mount? Thanks in advance.

Finding and mounting a windshield that works is remarkably idiosyncratic. I think the only thing that predictably helps all of us is increasing the angle of the screen by using Bruce's Block or Don's Delrin or another homebrew solution.

Another important part of the equation is what the rider was used to before, and what the rider wants now. I spent nine years on a K75S and fourteen on an R1100RSL, both of which have small screens and less protection than an RT. Maybe I got used to wind on my shoulders and my head in clear air.

I'm 6' tall with a 31" inseam, stock seat for the moment. I have an 18" Cee Bailey on the BMW tall bracket, angled with Don C's Delrin block. This is significantly shorter than called for by either Cee Bailey's or Cal Sci's measuring methods. It's pretty good for me: there's a slight burble at 40 - 50 mph, then it smooths out. I've only had it up to 80 or so, and it's nice up there: no buffetting, no loose fillings. So far, I don't think I'll have to search further to find a good fit for me. The engine sounds reflect a bit more up to me; I like the relative preeminence of the exhaust tone with the stock flyscreen. I also will paint or cover the lower edge of the screen to stop the absorption of light into the screen edge.

It was nice to have it the other morning on the way to work; it was 42°outside (hey, this is California) when I arrived.
