can the clutch lever be adjusted beyond the wheel dial?

hey guys,
this sounds kind of odd, but i've been getting used to my R for the last couple of weeks now and have noticed that the clutch lever for me is still a bit to far away, even on the "1" setting. i called my service dept for further advice and he told me that because it's a hydraulic clutch it can't be adjusted any further and i would just have to get used to it being kind of far...
is this valid? just seemed odd that bmw would figure everyone in the world would fit with those 3 default settings...but hey, if he's right he's right and i'll just get used to it lol.

The BMW levers are cast aluminum and can be bent. Very carefully and slowly, you can block the pivot and wrap tape around the lever so not to gouge it, place a pipe over the lever and slowly bend it. I have done this on the non-adjustable levers with good results. Just be aware that you need to pay close attention to where you bend it and that it is done slowly. I remember hearing of an aftermarket lever, but never pursued it.

I do not recommend bending the lever. Your best option would be to take the lever assembly off, take it apart, and file down relevant parts of the adjusting mechanism. That can effectively give you 1, 0, and -1 settings. Just don't take things too far and take the time for several trial-n-error fits.

Pazzo doesn't sell levers for an 1150R. Only the newer models. I looked into a clutch lever from them, but no dice.

Wunderlich sells teh Vario levers for the 1150R. They are adjustable (angle and length) and come either indiviually or as a pair. Not sure how comfy they are (they look much more squared off than the originals) as I've never known anyone who used them. You could try one of them if you're so inclined.
