Given the uncommonly high rate of battery failures on our bikes, it seems like it might be a worthwhile addition:

1. It predicts battery death. Might keep you from being stuck out in the boonies.
2. It warns of an undercharge condition and tells when to put the battery on the charger, thereby avoiding over-use of the charger.
3. It warns of overcharging--it's possible that the bikes are killing the batteries by overcharging them.

Interesting device.. an intelligent voltmeter optimized for battery condition measurement.

It might work as designed IF the battery is failing in a normal manner - ie - getting old, sulphated, tired, etc. That's how a battery should fail. What we've seen on the R12R batteries appears to me (and my opinion only) to be an actual physical failure internal to the battery. One moment it's OK, next it's dead-dead-dead. Yuasa batteries were known to have this sort of failure mode about umm.. perhaps 5-6 years ago. It was reported on in Motorcycle Consumer News a number of years ago.
