Hi guys. I'm new to the board and wanted to introduce myself.
I live in PA and have a 2008 R1200R that I picked up from Hermy's BMW in Port Clinton PA.
The only mod that I've done to it is to replace the stock exhaust with a Leo Vince slip on which greatly affected the look and sound of the bike. I'm just not a fan of the trash can size stock exhaust.

I've been riding for 5 years now and absolutely love this bike.

Howdy!
And welcome, I picked mine up at Hermy's last march, they seem like a good bunch of guys there.
Mine is also an '08, I picked it up used with only 639 miles on it! 8)
Seems the guy really wanted a Harley...
Anyway congrats on the new bike!

Congrats! You know she doesn't exist without at least one photo.

Safe travels.

+1 on the exhaust replacement... I too am struck by the enormity of the stock can. What were the BMW guys thinking? That lovely single-sided cast wheel, hidden behind that throwback to the 80's muffler... sad really.

Thanks guys.
I'll post a pic of the Leo Vince exhaust when I get home tonight.

I think BMW required so much exhaust displacement to not only muffle the sound (stock 1200r sounds like a sewing machine) and to also gain the precise back pressure for optimal engine performance.
Honestly, I have noticed no negative effects from doing this and it looks and sounds perfect. It's not loud at all, maybe 10-15% louder and throatier (deeper in tone).

Very pleased and it was such an easy installation.
