I wintered my 04 50R(14700 miles) at a friends poll barn with the battery tender plugged in. Half a tank on gas  with some fuel stabilizer in it. I started it with out fuss, it idled for 60 seconds and rode smooth for a couple miles <4k RPM. Stalled at the next light with low power at 3k. Got to gas station and filled up. Ran rough and stalled repeatedly for another mile, then quit. It would start and stay running, rough, with fast idle on but would not rev or allow launching. Seemed to smoke alot when starting
Any ideas of what to check? [-o< Bad coil. Ran well last fall. 3500 miles on last full tuneup. :?

Thanks for any suggestions

Water in gas would be my guess. Dump the tank and refill with fresh. Don't know if Dry-Gas is recommended for these bikes, but if you find it's ok, that might work.

Thanks I hope it is that simple. I would of thought the gas stabilizer would of taken care of that. I will follow up when I pull the plugs.

I don't believe ordinary fuel stabilizer will prevent water contamination, which is likely the cause. Some use "Sea Foam" or other alcohol based additives to suck up the water.

There are still a number of things that could be wrong besides bad gas. Check to make sure the fuel pump is pressurizing when you turn on the key. Pull a plug and check for spark and pull a fuel injector and check for fuel spray. Go from there after you've ruled out bad gas. ( In the bike, not you. )

Any horses in that barn? I hear they're bad about peeing in BMW gas tanks.

WATER....crank it up and keep it running with the hand idle....she will buck, shake and the exhaust will smell awfull but she will begin to clear up. Once it can hold some rpm get on and ride
