I replaced the cat and the stock muffler (can) with aTBR (Two Brothers Racing) and saved close to 20 pounds.
Most of the time you get a far better return by reducing weight than the cost of adding performance accesories.

My '02 RR came with a Remus Y-pipe and carbon fibre can. The carbon can was a fraction of the weight of the stock can, however looks weren't in keeping with the bike and while the bike revved freely and ran well at high rpm it was very noisy and a bit lumpy around 3,000rpm. I've kept the y-pipe but gone back to the stock can....looks better, still a good sound and somehow seems smoother around town at the 3,000rpm mark. Anyhow that's my experience.

I recently bought a Remus y-pipe and carbon can for my 04 and have never had any issues at much of anything over 2,000 rpm. I think it shaved about 15ish pounds off, but i didn't weigh it. I wanted something to sound better, and it definitely does. With an all black beakster, the carbon can looks better than the flashy chrome monster that is the stock can.
