BMW R1200R R1150R/T F800 K1200R R1100R/T R1250R RnineT Message Board

I have just purchased my 1st r1150r znd am excited. I am looking around at wet weather gear. The BMW suit costs $800 and is a bit too high for my taste. Can anyone recommend rain gear or a one piece suit that does not cost $800?

There is a bunch of rain gear out there that's good but I'll toss out as a good value, Frogg Toggs. It's lightweight, packs well, and the water rolls off. It doesn't go well against a hot exhaust pipe, as a friend proved on a wet day.

Take a look at the BMW 1 piece rainsuit. About $100. I have ridden in monsoon rains of the desert Southwest this past fall and was DRY. Easy to get on zippers to open the legs to get over your boot. If it started raining, I was in my gear in about 2 minutes flat.

I'd like to comment about gloves. Try and find a pair that doesn't use Thinsulate. If your hands are the least bit damp you'll find they are very difficult to put on,very.

I sized it to fit over the Motoport kevlar jacket and pant, and it makes a really nice layer-up for cold weather riding.

Good Gore-Tex boots are a must. I got by for a long time with good boots, a $100 coated nylon jacket and overpants and $10 neoprene kayaking gloves. Never got wet once.
