K sport cases

Hi,

I've been looking around in several forums, including spanish (bmwmotos.com), french and of course this one, but I didn't find anything about it. :-k

Someone asked in Spain about mounting sport cases (K models) in our Roadster or Rockster models. I'm talking about R850-1150R models. ;)

System cases are fine for travelling and have a decent load capacity, but are quite classic for many people.

Did anyone try that? Anyone knows if it's possible to fit those cases in our bike?

Thanks.

So, that's what it would look like...

Ok, I know that case holders have nothing to do, so there's work to do I guess...

Any suggestions or experiences?

Senor sube,

My appologies for hijacking your post as I don't have anything to contribute. What I find fascinating is the second picture which shows the bike with the rearwheel nuts on the right, th tank labe is reversed as well as the center stand, however, the piece de resistance" is the aftermarket can with the strap holddown......great photoshop work!!!!

I wonder how many people will see it????

The mounting mechanism is completely different. On the Rockster you have the passenger peg brace and the system case rails which in turn are mounted fore and aft to welded bolt receivers on the sub frame. For the K cases, there is a need for a lower centered piece that stabilizes the case and an upper center stud to which the case locks. The lower piece is based on a bowed lightweight metal bar that attaches to the sub frame from beneath the frame rails.

Option 1 - Make the K cases mounting system fit onto the Rockster subframe. Entails creating three drilled points for the bowed frame (front and back) and the center stud. I have no idea if these will obtain clearances required for the exhaust, vapor canister, or tailights.

Option 2 - Well, frankly, I cannot envision making the K cases fit the R case mounts in any way.

boxermania... =D> =D>

You're right! It would have been easier to flip the case pic instead of the whole bike... in fact the bike is much heavier so I got quite exhaust turning the bike...

Thanks MikeCam.
I think Option 1 is better... if possible.
It may be necessary to add the lower metal bar on the Rockster frame... :-k
