My dealer forgot to reset the lcd service indicator at the 600 mile service. Can I reset it myself or must I go back to the dealer?

At the moment - a dealer or someone with a GS-911 is required to reset it (one of BMW's dumber ideas - even on the cars now you can reset it with a few button presses..) Thank Dog the '07 doesn't have it.

If you're an MOA member - I did an article on it a few years ago (about 2.. if memory serves..)
It works well. So far the manufacturer has been continually improving it and adding new functionality - all for free. Someday he may charge for the updates, but I'm guessing as long as new sales of them keeps him employed that won't be necessary.
It isn't something I use all the time - indeed - I have very rarely used it - and for diagnostics - I've never used it on my R12R since nothing ever breaks. I have used it on friends bikes, and it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling to have it tossed in my laptop bag when I'm going on longer (multi-day, long distance) trips. The latest beta (or one soon to show up) has (or will have) the ability to activate the ABS unit - which is useful for doing a brake fluid flush. And I know it has the ability to set the idle compensation stepper motors... which might be useful for tuneups.
