Last ride of 2008..

Finished about 1PM when the snow started coming down. Other than that - it was quite pleasant, the bike felt especially responsive and I was fairly warm and cozy with my Gerbings on and the heated grips on high. Temp was dropping as I pulled into the garage (about 35F), and is supposed to continue down into the teens tonight to welcome 2009 in.

I'm hopeful the roads are clear enough for my annual 1st ride of the year tomorrow!

Have a great New Year everyone - rubber side down and lots of miles!

Don,

On behalf of those of us that have 100+ days before the first ride of the year, go find some twisties tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day, and, well you get the picture. Have fun, ride safe give it a hug for us at the end of each ride.

Happy New Year

Doug

Doug,
Don't feel too bad. I live down the road (more or less) from Don, and although we may get out sooner than you, I assure you the roads we travel are less than nothing compared to the roads that you most likely consider mundane. The local mountains, the forked mountains (a local joke) reach about 200 feet at the summit, the roads are mostly straight (you could shoot a rifle down the road and then go and find the bullet laying in the middle of the road) and flat.
That saying about the grass looking greener is usually true. Have a Happy New Year, BTW - we'll have it first.

Hello to the frost belt, my last ride of '08 today was some canyon roads through overhanging trees and nice scenic views. It was a bit cool when I started, in the high 50s, but warmed up nicely to around 65F. Skiing tomorrow morning, sailing in the afternoon. Happy New Year to everybody.

Well, you had a last ride of 2008, and I have a last video from 2008. I just finished editing it tonight. It's about a guy who rides a 1938 BMW on the motocross course at Los Angeles County Raceway for "A Day in the Dirt." If you're interested, check it out here: http://peckhammer.blogspot.com/2008/12/ ... -dirt.html

And Happy New Year to Everyone!

Thanks for sharing that... The machine was cool looking, but sounds like it is a pig to drive until the bearings get fixed !

Didn't get my 01/01 ride in - woke up with a head cold.. that I blame on my sister-in-law who is visiting from California and brought it along to share.. Temp never got over 29F - and that's 1 degree colder than I'll leave the garage in. Actually spent most of the day napping on the couch.

Hopefully by Saturday or Sunday my head will be clear enough..

Turn about is fair play. I went to visit my brother in Charlotte over New years and came home to CA with a East Coast sore throat. [-X
