Up until today - i had no idea what a "flooterset" was.
Now i know; its a posh word for foglight!
Well, after reading Don's in-depth review about additional lighting, i decided to order a set of these from Wunderlich:



In my opinion, the caliper mounted lights sit too low. Creating a triangle of light should catch a cages attention a little better (i hope!)

Anyway, i should be installing them some time after Christmas/New Year & i'll post a review and some pics.

I am very motivated to install aux. lighting and anxiously await any further details.

I tried to order them online direct from Wunderlich but apparently they sell in the US through BMW of Santa Cruz County, whom I have emailed to see if they can be purchased in the US. I have not heard back yet.

Ordered a set today ... probably take until early February to get down under (sigh). I chose these ones because I like a wide pool of light not too far ahead of me - Don's pics of his set-up do almost exactly what I want, and the Wundrlich description suggests these little ones will do that job. They're also very small, a nicer height than Motolights and the importer (Motohansa) will fit them for me - too easy.

I'm happy to have a low-beam set - I find the abrupt loss of light when aux lights are wired with my high beam to be a bit spooky. This is worse on many Aussie backroads where the surface is brown rather than black - it's hard to see the line between seal and gravel verge in high beam, so if I lose the auxl ights going from high- to low-beam, it can be very hard to judge position against oncoming headlights.

I haven't done much after-dark riding because I've mostly ridden the R12R out where I'd have a high chance of hitting a 'roo ... but the main beam seem to have reasonable penetration so I'm not trying to extend them, just fill in the immediate area.

I'm particularly interested in the SWITCH set-up - tempted to get the GS switch Don (that's MR R1200R to you!) has used with his lights. That or hide the switch altogether and have 'em on pretty much all the time.

Mine came for my F800GS (already have Moto Lites on the R1200R). I put them on yesterday. They are very bright. I still have to connect the relay power sense lead which I hope to get done tonight.

Fitted the Wunderlich Microflooters and set them up so they are additional riding lights. Only minor irritation is the illuminated switch sometimes doesn't! German instructions but if non German speaker then relatively simple to follow if you download the English intructions from the Wunderlich website (for the R1200GS microflooters). Took no more than an hour to set up.

Can you post a pic with the lights on? And the switch?

I am just trying to decide whether to do the Lumalink or MicroFlooter!

Grapeman - Here's a picture of the switch fixed to the LH mirror stem. It isn't immediately reached from the LH grip but as they are either on or off during a ride that isn't much of a problem.


The lights appear bright in this picture but they are set not to dazzle other drivers. They've been set up so the light spread is not higher than the low beam. In use they should make the bike more visible and provide a brighter view of the road but no further than low beam.

In the US the Wunderlich dealer wants $325 for the MicroFlooter. Which is just about what you would have in the Lumalink setup. Throw in the nice switch setup like http://www.eilenberger.net/R1200R_Roads ... switch.htm and you would be over $325.

Thanks for the pics - especially the switch (tends to convince me the GS foglight switch Don has used is worth the money).

Sadly, the Australian distributor has been told these are on back order at Wunderlich .. so I daresay I'll be waiting a while yet. SIgh.
