I've been wanting a R1200R and lurking here for a long time. Seems like it is getting to be a pretty good time to buy.
How good of a deal is this one that my local dealer is offering me?
$12,000 Used Cristal Grey Metallic 2008 R1200R with 600 miles on it, ABS, htd grips, computer, saddlebag mts, centerstand, clear turn signals, first service just done, remainder of factory warranty still good.
It is not a demo ... it is a used bike, but I haven't found out yet why it was traded in - I plan to find out.
What do you guys think of this deal?
- Regards, Dad

The same optioned '09 can be had for $14.5k without any rebates, programs or haggling.
With the a la carte option lists, you can order the bike you really want and may even save some $$$, two new colors as well...
I think $11k would be the most I would pay but that is because there is $360 of unwanted equipment on the bike and it is not black.

Just to confuse you, I think $12K for that bike is very reasonable. As far as color goes, they are all good colors. As far as equipment, this bike is nicely equipped. With the break-in service completed you are saving another couple of hundred bucks too. If it were me, the bike would already be mine.

I'd agree that's a good price for a no-miles bike. If it had 15,000 or more miles on it - then it might be a $10-11k bike. At 600 miles, you've avoided the break-in RPM restrictions, and the cost of the 600 mile service. Only thing you're not getting you'd get on a new bike is a full 3 years of warranty. See if you can dicker in the cost of an extended warranty with the deal and you're good to go (and remember - the extended warranty markup is typically 100% - if they say it costs $1,000, it cost them $500..)

got to agree, I'd try to gain a little may some luggage, helmet,Warr. but if it's what you want buy it and have no regret's.You got two years left on the warr. saved 600 bucks on that first service[ask for a copy of the work order]Start ridin. Funny grin and big smile every time you glance in that mirror.

Buy it and ride it! You won't regret it. Take the grand or so saved over a new one and buy the bags or windshield or something.

It sounds like a good deal to me.
All of the options with the bike are ones I like having on my bike.
AND.....it is not black.
Little R1200R joke there.
