For those who have wondered where to permanently mount an Easypass transponder, my solution was under the beak. I used three plastic tie downs to secure it. The beak fits over and completely hides it. I tested it today and it works well. I have a picture of the mount, but for some reason I'm not able able to attach it.

A couple of us mounted our E-Z Passes under the beak a few years ago, and all experienced a no-read every now and then. This happened to me often in the high-speed lanes, particularly on the Garden State Parkway in NJ. A $118 ticket from the New Jersey Turnpike Authority gave me motivation to mount it to the inside of my windshield.

I hope you have better luck. Maybe the scanning devices are better now.

I mount mine on the inside of my left GS hand guard. Works like a charm.

I strap mine to my right bicep using a plastic holder and a short bungee.

Remove the suction cups, add a 9" bungee. I've only tested it twice on the PA turnpike (low-speed readers), need to take it down to Delaware where they have 55mph readers to see if it works.

I tried to do that a while back, but couldn't get it to mount squarely. How'd you do it?

My EZ Pass would not work reliably in my jacket pocket or in my tank bag. I did not want to put it on the windshield because it could fall off or someone could steal it (hey, this is the greater NYC metro area).

So, I got the license plate version of the transponder. This is the black one that mounts to a front license plate, for cars whose windshield composition prevents the interior transponder from being read correctly.

I mounted the license plate version with zip ties under the beak. It is the perfect width -- the license plate holes are just a bit narrower than the fork legs -- and it is completely concealed. The EZ pass system picks up this transponder almost 100% of the time, and I never have to think about it. They do not charge extra for an extra unit, so give it a try. The only place I have had a problem is on the bridges that go between PA and NJ on I-78 and on I-80. Unfortunately, they have gates, too, so I cannot just go through them.

BTW, if you register your license plate number with EZ Pass, they will find you if there is the occasional mis-read, so you should be able to avoid any penalties or fines.

The only possible downside is that some day a zip tie could break and the unit would wedge under the fender, stop the front wheel, and I would flip over and die instantly.
