"Rattling" after-market brake pads?

Post by templar »

Well after several pad changes over the past ten years, and hundreds of dollars (literally), I decided to try some cheapie ebay pads this season.

They work great, and I saved a bundle. But....I get a constant rattle from the left side, and only the left side. Having bought two sets of the cheapie pads, I changed them out to see if the rattle would stop. Rattle came right back after about 50 mi, again just the left side.

Anyone else encounter this?

(please no OEM lectures, lol).
Ride FAST, it's safer that way.

No lectures. I did the same on my K75. The squealing , grabbing and rattling on Ferodo and EDC? pads was bad enough to make me revert to BMW pads.

I had a "stacatto" like sound from Galfer Greens (organic) on my last R. Never did really go away. Changed to EBC and quiet again.

Not sure really why they make strange noises. Wish I could offer a solution.
