Rear brake pad wear

I've only got about 5,000 miles on the new bike but the rear pads are just about gone. Wear seems to be just on the inside pad leading me to think the caliper is not releasing completly, sticking....there also seems to be some drag on the rear wheel which I initially thought was the rear drive drag but now I think I can hear the pad dragging. I removed the caliper and looked things over but did not see anything obvious. Anyone else had this problem that might have some words of advice?

Somehow I believe I answered this on the other board you posted this on.
The inside pad is thinner than the outside one. Why? Dunno - makes no sense to me. It wears out first. Mine made it to 15,000 miles. Apparently you must brake more than I do.

I had the same problem, posted on here previously. ("Search..." is your friend
)
I solved it by using ESB HH pads and following Don's practice of letting the bike's proportioning system apply the rear brake most of the time.
My ESB rear pads now have 15K on them and look fine.

Hi Bill.......is there any sqeeking or excessive dust from ESB brakes?......do you feel any difference between OEM and ESB?...thx

Yes you did catch me on the other list, thanks. No I probably will never get the same mileage you get out of the pads. I ride 2up almost exclusively, my wife wants to go faster year in and year out even though I'm way old enough to know better and I live less than 60 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and seek out the steep, narrow, rough, tight roads which we have in abundance in Western VA and WV. It's tough....but somebody has to do it.

I should have been more diligent with the search....it did turn up hundreds of threads, but I got couldn't find a thread that really answered my particular issue, or at least what I thought my problem was so I took the easy way out. I got EBC pads ready for the next set just to avoid the price of the OEM option. Hopefully they will work out. Thanks.

Yeah, I too got EBC partially to save money.
I have absolutely no squeaking, maybe slightly less dust, and stopping power is indistinguishable from OEM. I'll buy 'em again.
