FINALLY! .... A group ride where I could actually ride with the group!

An acquaintance of mine from FL, Xracer and Mrs. Xracer came to N. Georgia for the Georgia Mountain Fair in Hiawassee, Ga. He happened to bring along his TW200.

So barnone and I ventured across the border from N. Carolina as an unofficial welcoming committee. Sevs, from Alpharetta, GA decided to join us at the campground.

L to R: sevs, barnone, xracer, jb44

Xracer had some rudimentary directions, and sevs had the map. We thought it ironic that a guy from Argentina (sevs) would be the one to lead the ride most of the way. But he was the best at reading the map.

Where the heck are we now? Hightower Rd ? Persimmon? Coleman River Rd? Blue Ridge Gap?

TW’s take a bath in the Tallulah River. This is the same river I stalled in the middle of a few months ago. Fortunately, the water level was much lower now.

Of the 4 to 5 hours on the trail, this seemed to be the most enjoyable part:

Miraculously, we found our way to Mountain Man BBQ in Dillard for lunch before we headed back to Hiawassee.

Makes me want to get a dual sport bike.
How bad are the bugs down there this time of year?
When I lived in JAX Fl the bugs & heat were so bad I didn't like to ride much except in winter.

Compared to FL, the bugs are nearly nonexistent. Yes, there's mosquitoes, but only mildly bothersome at night. Nothing that a bit of DEET won't fix.

It's been a very pleasant summer in the NC mountains... only turned on the A/C a couple or three times so far.
