Computer failure?

Post by Graf »

......came home last friday and got on the bike....went straight to the gas station filled it up and went for a 160mi ride........came home....parked the bike.....on saturday i went for a ride again when i noticed that the gas gage shows FULL tank after 160mi????........the average mi left was going up instead of down......so when my tank was almost empty the fuel gage still showed full and miles to empty went from 232mi (that was after i already rode for a total of about 200 mi) all the way to 256mi........
i have not seen anybody talk about this......am i the first to have this computer problem?

I've seen something similar on my R12R. Fuel guage and mileage left to empty seem to read very high till I go 150 miles or so.

Sounds like failure of the sensor strip in the tank.. It's not a common failure, but it's no unknown. You have a warranty for a reason - see your friendly local dealer. You might check with them before taking it in to make sure they have the sensor strip in stock.
