Getting organized for the first trip, rather than find out the hard way, I've just ordered a 20" Cee Bailey and want to order an Airhawk. Question: which Airhawk, the small cruiser?

Got the airhawk, put it on the bike. It seemed awkward at first and I wasn't sure about how it felt, but I decided to give it a try.

Rode 350 miles yesterday with minimal soreness and numbness. Prior to the Airhawk 200 miles was about the limit, and I wasn't as sore at 350 as I previously would have been at 200.

I vote yes.

Mine should be here this week, seems to take a little longer to get into Canada. I've got a 1,500 mile trip planned in a couple of weeks so I'd be curious to hear how you do with yours over the next couple of weeks. I've ordered one for the bride as well, she was squirming a little after two hours on the back tonight; anything for marital harmony!

I hope it works for you too. I still think a custom seat would be nice, but I will give this a try for a while.

I might just comment.. Motorcycle Consumer News - July '08 issue - did a review of the AirHawk vs the FreedomAir cushions. They came to exactly the same conclusion I did over a year before in a review for the BMW MOA Owners News..

As good as the Airhawk is - the FreedomAir is one order of magnitude better. I'd suggest reading the review in MCN.. the price of the two is the same. I couldn't ride with the AirHawk on my R1150RS - my "boys" were in awful pain. I've been riding all day on the R1200R with my FreedomAir - and have never been as comfortable on a bike (and I've had custom Russell seats made for me - the FreedomAir beats the Russell..)

The Airhawks arrived today, I put 120 miles on the bike before the Airhawk went on, the stock seat seems to have broken in some, 20 miles after, Airhawk seemed to be fine. My bud on the '08 K1200S was in worse shape. Will report on the Airhawk after the 1,200 mile trip in a couple of weeks. Not sure that a bunch of motorcycle dudes talking about their butts is appropriate; I wont tell if you wont tell.

Bump this post, I have the Airhawk, and the boys are complaining more often than not. Time to move the Airhawk to the Harley so I can lean back and give the boys a rest.

So Don, where did you get the FreedomAir. I googled it and saw lots of comments, but no sources.

Dan, before you pull out the Visa.. the FreedomAir folks sent me a new style that they're making to look at.. it's the "Sport" bike one.

I have no idea why my wife's legs are in the photo.. they just are..

I'm undecided on which one I like the best. I don't think you'd go wrong with either. The normal one (top one) provides more support all the way around the edge of my butt when sitting in it. The sport one provides more concentrated support, with extra support at the rear part. Both feel comfortable short term. I haven't taken a long ride with the new Sport one yet - so I can't say long term, except the normal one has always worked for me on long rides.

Has anyone ever installed these inside the seat cover. Trimming off some of the foam and drilling the pan to have the air tube accessable. It would certainly look better but would it work?

I thought about it.. but, there are two air tubes with the FreedomAir, and they work best when not much air is in them, which would leave a rather lumpy cover, so it isn't clear this would look any better. There was a company making a air bladder type insert for seats - but it appears it wasn't too successful a business since they're out of it, and I never found anyone with any firsthand experience. I did see them go up for auction once in a while (when I owned an R1150RS with a really uncomfortable seat) on Ebay.

I want a comfortable and adjustable seat and I don't want to worry about what gets wet or disappears off my bike when parked for a couple hours. I am thinking about giving it a try.
A thin layer of memory foam could go between the air pad and the seat cover. It is not asking too much to be comfortable for hours not minutes.
