AutoSwitch Install

AutoSwitch Install
Hi all, I just purchased a set of fog lights for the Rock. I also bought an autoswitch. I'm kinda electrically challenged. wiring the lights is pretty simple, but I'm not confident in installing the swith. Mainly because I dont know which wire is the the signal cancelling wire. I searched for autoswitch install on the forum and came up with a decent thread, but if you have pictures please help me out. How do i wire the fog lights to the switch, or do i just wire the lights to the bike, the switch to the bike, and they magically work together? or do i wire the lights to the switch, and then the switch to the bike? Like I said....sorry I sound pretty lame, but I'm not very confident when it comes to wiring.
See, I told you guys, half the time I dont know what I'm talking about.

Re: AutoSwitch Install
If I can pick up an AutoSwitch locally today, then foglight & switch How-To (or possibly How-Not-To) pictorial will be forthcoming. This'll get me off the dime to reinstall my Motolights, plus try another modification that's recently tickled the grey matter.
In the mean time, maybe someone else has info...

Re: AutoSwitch Install
That would be sweet. I'm hoping to get mine on before the Bash

Re: AutoSwitch Install
Sorry, struck out at 1st good local shop, will try backup source tomorrow morning.
Questions: Do you have the foglights installed already? Is tank on or off the bike?
If I can't find a local AutoSwitch, then a backup plan to activate lights with ignition-on is easy to do, at least for the Bash... which is this coming weekend, right?!
All you'd need to for ignition-on lights activation using the lights' harness* is:
(1) connect the lights' power supply to the relay to the battery (+);
(2) make sure the fuse is OK in the (+) lead from battery terminal to relay;
(3) connect the ground wire to battery ground(-);
(4) connect one of the relay's coil contacts (marked as 1 & 2, or 85 & 86) to the battery ground;
(5) connect the remaining relay coil contact wire to an ignition-on power source, which is easiest to grab in the fusebox using a fuse tap.
* Assuming that the harness has the relay already wired into the circuit.
I'm guessing that you've got all of this covered already, so pardon the basic approach.
If I cannot get my hands on an AutoSwitch, then I could do the above kludge to wire up my Motolights real quick and do a Show & Tell. Post here or PM me if that would be of value.
FYI - Here's a good info resource for relays that Google turned up:

Re: AutoSwitch Install
sorry that my reply has to be negative. The previous owner of my 90S installed two fog lights by cutting into the wiring loom. He knew just enough to be dangerous. The wiring caught fire and I had to replace half the loom. ( nearly lost the whole bike). It's safer to buy those amber glasses or clip-ons when riding foggy conditions than messing around with electronics.

Re: AutoSwitch Install
Autoswitch came today. The lights I bought do not have a relay on the harness. How do i go about putting one on? Or do I even have to? Or maybe I can bring the setup to the Bash and someone can help me
. I'll gladly pay with alcohol

Re: AutoSwitch Install
Struck out again for local Autoswitch source, and no time to sit down at computer this evening... Sending from BlackBerry now!
I'm sure someone at the Bash can assist.
If not, then will throw some pics up here ASAP.

Re: AutoSwitch Install
Ok.....I think I got it all wired up. I tapped into the 8th fuse with a fuse tap for the power to the autoswitch. Should the lights light up when the ignition is on and the TSC is pressed for a few seconds? Or does the bike need to be running? I cant start the bike as the tank is off and the fuel lines are disconnected. The fog lights do not go on with the ignition switch on.....should they?? Had to give up for the night. I hope someone gives me some help before i attempt to put the tank back on and find out that i messed something up. Simply put......are the fog lights supposed to power up with just the ignition on, or does the bike need to be running? Help please
