BMW R1200R R1150R/T F800 K1200R R1100R/T R1250R RnineT Message Board

BMW has a nice 19 litre tail bag I picked up that slips over the back of the seat and straps to the frame. Big enough to stash a liner after the cool morning chill, some extra gloves and a little of anything else.

Just arrived but not installed yet, Nippy Normans Gloss Black hugger, and just ordered but not received yet, Ohlins.

Looks great.
Do you have the part # of that bag? I don't see it on the website and I would like to look into getting one of those for putting stuff in for commuting so I can take the side cases off. ( I am not a fan of the top case on the R12R).

Not a bad looking bag! What do you mean it "slips over the seat?" Do the straps go under the seat or attach to the frame?

[edit] Oops, I see the front strap attaches to the frame. How about the rear? Do you have a luggage rack? If so, is it still usable?

The bag has a pocket on the bottom/back (you cannot see it in the pics) that opens towards the front of the bike. The bag slips over the back of the seat (seat slips into the pocket) holding the back of the bag down and in place. I had straps on the back, but took them off as it seems not to need them. Plus the bag comes with a full assortment of straps in different lengths so there may be other and better ways to attach it, and use it on other motorcycles. (if you get one and find a better strap location POST IT HERE!).

It is easy to remove, bad for theft, but easy at least to carry inside with you and reattach in seconds if you are parking for a while.

I do not have a luggage rack. I don't know why it wouldn't still fit, or even attach maybe to the rack.

How do you carry the bag when it's off the bike? I can see a handle on the top, but is there a strap so you can throw it over your shoulder?

There are handles on the top and bottom.

I bought the BMW Tank bag when I bought the bike. Too big, and scratches the tank. Then I bought a small magnetic tank bag. BIG MISTAKE, left milky orange peel in the clear coat and though I was able to use leveling compound to get it out, there is still a little bit there.

If anyone is interested, I have one of those BMW tail bags in my garage that I would be happy to sell. I bought it for a K12R that I owned for about 5 minutes. The bag works really well but I have a trunk on the new R12R so I don't need the tail bag. Hadn't thought about selling it until I saw this thread so I really don't have a price in mind.
