Ohlins: worth the price.

I finally got a chance to really spend a day on the bike with the newly installed Ohlins and I was not disappointed. Once the shocks were dialled in, the bike cornered like it was on rails and felt great on the bumpy stuff. The stockers weren't bad but the Ohlins really transformed the bike.

I've used aftermarket shocks on other bikes but the R12R seemed to benefit the most from the new shocks.

OK, that's it. I guess I'll have to buy them.

I too recently drank the Ohlin's Kool-Aid, and it was good 8) . I could tell the difference immediately. Like when I dropped the bike onto both wheels from the center stand, it was that tight. The ride and handling are really outstanding. I haven't totally gotten things dialed in but am hopeful that I can spend sometime with a local suspension guru this weekend. If you plan on doing it yourself remember heat is your friend (and lots of it)when it comes to the bottom mounting bolts on both ends. And do yourself a favor and run the fuel out of the tank. I did mine when it was almost full #-o and it didn't help at all.

The Ohlins are simply fantastic.
Worth every penny and even an average driver like myself can feel the huge improvement over stock.

They HAVE TO BE dialled in properly, but once they are....WOW

This might be a silly question...

Can the Ohlins be used with the ESA ( Electronic Suspension Adjustment) option, which I have?

Nope. Only company that has this is Works Performance - and you send them your current ESA shocks, they remove the controls and graft them onto their shocks. Good thing if your ESA shocks are worn and you'd like to have rebuildable ones on the bike.

Sometimes Dan offers discounts for members of certain forums. I got mine from him through the Adv rider group buy.

Worth asking about.

Was that recently? He quoted me a better price a couple of months ago. I think the price has gone up due to the dropping value of the dollar.

Dan Kyle of Kyle Racing. Still a good price- my local dealer wanted 1800.00

It was Oct 07. I think there was a price increase in January but there are occasional group buys on the ADV Riders website from Kyle Racing and Hard Racing.

Enjoy the shocks.

But I will...

Cool Dan
don't forget to post a ride report. I got ESA because that is how the bike was ordered by the dealer. The front shock never seems right to me. It feels either too soft or too firm, mainly with high speed bumps.
