Hi
Again I have to rely on the feedback of the knowledgeable members here for guidance. I see that you mention additives to put in your gas tanks for storage, cleaning etc. Unfortunately we don't have those brand names in South Africa.

May I use additives that is commonly used in cars (gas not diesel) to clean the fuel injectors on my R?

Thanks
Johan

I don't see why not. I've used automotive fuel injector additive cleaners with no problems. The Seafoam product frequently mentioned here is also used in two-stroke outboard motors as well as in automobile engines.

I have used a fuel injector cleaner made by Chevron. It's called Techron. Comes in a black plastic bottle with a long neck. I don't recall the quantity in the bottle (maybe 12 oz?) Be sure to use the proper amount for your tankful of gas. Seems as I recall the instructions said something to the effect that one bottle treats 20 gallons. So whatever you use make sure you use the proper amount. I would imagine most good quality name brand injector cleaners would work.

If you have Shell, Chevron and Mobil gas in your place along with other brands they already have the injector cleaning additives in them, so nothing to worry about. If not, the TYechron product that tower worker mentions should be an easy find.....I would use the extra strength.

Regarding long storage periods 4-6 months Sta-Bil should be available. Visit with soe of he automobile or motorcycle dealers and inquire. Good luck...... 8)
