Day Three of my 08 Snowy Mountains Ride.

This was my last day of our ride..and we woke to a coolish foggy morning.
.
I started with just a quick wipe of the seat to dry the morning due off..but of coarse I could not stop there..Befor long she was looking like new.
.
What's so special about that little blue bike...anyway it was time for breakfast.
.
We all entered the dinning room looking forward to our cooked breakie..Most had cereal and toast before the hot food was served.
.
You can't have an Aussie breakie without Vegemite.
.
Not a bad breakie..I think the only time I get a cooked breakfast is on these rides.
.
I'm just about to hit the road..Some put rain gear on because of the mist in the air..I had my fingers crossed for no rain.
.
Gotta have a pic of the big fish that's in the center of town.
.
Within five minutes the sky started to clear..maybe because some had their rain gear on.
.
This part of Oz is covered in snow in Winter..and these orange poles show where the road is under the snow.
.
Each year in the past we had ridden past this sign that said..'Three Mile Dam'..and we decided to stop off this time and have a look.
It was only just a short dirt road...and at the end was a nice cool little lake...My guess is that the lake is about three miles long.
It must've been named before we went metric..I can't imagine naming a place Six kilometer Dam.

Soon after we ended up at this lookout point..I'm not sure where.
.
There were heaps of other riders and bikes there.
.
I can't help look at this big Yammy and think..Jeez..That's so American..(not that there's anything wrong with that)

Back on the road..I think these trees are called Snow Gums.
.
We rode over a few Dam walls along this road..I stopped at this one for a quick pic.

Back on the road and looking at Boxerboys butt...

...and then Denis's butt.
.
...and back to Boxerboys butt...
..it almost seemed like he was flashing a brown eye at me as his sheep skin flapped up and down.
.
At last another rest stop...for fuel and food...The plan was to park in the shade under a tree.
.
I'm glad the copper didn't walk around the corner as we were mucking around.
.
We relaxed in the shade and had burgers.
.
I walked down the road and saw a couple of nice bikes outside the local pub.
.
I don't know what they feed the flowers in this town..but they were HUGE..some as big as a basket ball.
.
Time to put the riding gear back on..Being so hot it's very tempting to not wear gloves or jacket..But then I think of what happened to Pete.
.
Back on the road again.
.
We stopped to look at this sign showing that another town was also moved because of a Dam.
.
It was always good following Denis on his Ducati..Jeeez it sounded so good.
.
Our last stop as a whole group was here at Tangambalanga..Try saying that three times fast.
.
Time to buy an ice cream and find some shade..The first one went down so fast I went back for seconds.
.
Oil head meets air head.

We said bye to the others..and four of us (Steve, Pete and Dave and I) headed off.
We stopped again for fuel..Check out the old jalopy...and also check out the old car.......Just kidding Steve.

We had one last stop together and had cold drinks and dim-sims to eat.
.
Soon after four became three as Dave headed off in his direction for home.
The shadows were getting long.
It was now about 9pm and the sun was sinking behind the hill..and soon after that I was riding alone as Steve and Pete headed off towards their homes.
It was now pretty late..It was dark and I had one last stop for a snack and cold drink before reaching home..and what better place for that than Maccars.
I had a chicken wrap and coke...and was a bit sad that the ride is over.
It was a beautiful Summers night..and at 10pm it was still about 27 deg C (80 F).. http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg9/ ... p17feb.gif
