Yes it's true. Picked this up on eb-y (Sorry if I out bid you) A real work of art from Sargent. It is very comfortable, mounts great since its a re-worked original seat pan. It has the carbon fx inlay against smooth naugahide (those poor little Naugas). Overall i'm happy with the fit and finish, Now for a long day in the saddle.......Maybe this Sunday w/ the Polars if it dont snow again

I couldn't see it at first either-I right clicked on the red X went to properties copied the URL, pasted it in the browser and got to see it on the kodak site. It then magically appeared in the post FWIW.
Now, about that seat-very nice, but I thought that Seargent hadn't yet released one for the 12R??? And if I may be so bold as to pry, how much$$$, or a range if that's too forward?

Although Sargent does sell many complete seats, a big part of their business is re-working existing seats. They'll do this on virtually any bike. The procedure is to call them and discuss what you like and what you don't like about your stock seat. Then you choose from a long menu of options based on your tastes and their recommendations, send them your seat, and let them do their magic. Cost depends on the options you choose, and turn-around time depends on how busy they are--I'd guess about 3-4 weeks this time of year.
Many members of the (Honda) Ascot Enthusiasts Group, of which I'm a moderator, have had their seats redone by Sargent. All have been happy with the results, from both quality and cost points of view. I had mine done about 4 years ago for less than $200.
Check them out at

I assume this is a custom seat - I'm still waiting to hear on the world sport seat. Sargent Cycle web site still shows Spring 2008 delivery.
Mind you, I'm finding the stock seat isn't so bad ...

Great looking seat. I had my stock R11R reworked years back by Sargent. Did you have the foam reshaped with the Atomic foam? I'm thinking about sending my R12R seat in for the denser Atomic foam in the front.
Also, did you ask for that alternating pattern with the Carbon FX and the plain vinyl?
(Sargent is offering 30 bucks off for custom seat work in December)

I was less than satisfied with the Sargent rework of a BMW K75 seat I had them do. They added the "atomic" foam (what a name..) by cutting out some of the old foam and gluing it in. Problem was - they used too much glue - and too hard a glue. There were two hard ridges right where my thighs are which caused intense pain.
Sent the seat back - they played with it - and sent it back - with the same problem.
Sent the seat back again - they removed some of the glue, but the seat was still painful to ride on. What had been an "hour" seat in the BMW mode to being a max of "20 minutes" seat after they were done with it.
Saw them at the national rally in Charleston - where a friend who was a vendor packed the seat along for me. The reply I got from them was "Sell it on Ebay.. we aren't interested in looking at it or fixing it.."
So I did - and will never buy another Sargent product again.
FWIW - I'm quite happy with the stock LOW seat - the very first BMW seat that has worked for me.

Ya damned sure did, ya bastich!..

I was out of town, and not near a computer, or those photos might be of the seat on my RR..
Congrats.. the seat looks better on your bike than it did in the ebay pix.
Give us a review once you've put some miles on it.

Echo, i picked it up on ebay so previous owner had all the fun with selection. It DOES have the "Atomic" foam in it and it is a bit harder than the stocker.
Don......too bad you had such probs with Sargent. I've had three seats from them and I've been happy.

I have found that the "low" BMW seat is more confortable... the "normal" one feels it presses higher in my butt, more in my crotch than in my lower"soft" butt...

I thought my OEM BMW seat that came with my R1200R was a wretched prostate hating monster.
The only Seargent seat I have ever owned was on my K1200RS and it was very nice.
Does the "Atomic Foam" help keep your package warm in the winter? It would be kinda cool if it (the package) after being exposed to the Atomic Foam got really huge like in those old 50s B movies and went on a rampage.

Ok, so... now that you've had the seat for a month, how do you like it compared to the stocker?
Inquiring minds want to know...

Yeah the K1200RS was a good seat - so was the seat on my K1200S! Heck - the seat on my RSV1000R was more comfy than the R12R seat!
However, I doid seem to be getting used to the seat (or it used to me) at the end of last season so we'll see....

I am happy to report that the ATOMIC foam has made my "member" MASSIVE, "like in those 50's movies", my package is warm and fuzzy (no comments please) and the seat is much more comfortable than the stocker. However, since I'm one of those winter pussies (think cat here), I've only ridden thrice on it. But I ams looking forward to warmer weather.....
