Looking at the profile view of the 'R' has made me wonder more than once if the designers could have made the seat angle less inclined and provide a more comfortable platform on which to sit.
Has modern styling been given preference over engineering design...........??

I hear you big time... There's only one reasons to angle the seat surface forward... for looks (well, and maybe to let short legged people reach the ground). I couldn't believe the difference in comfort when I jacket up the front of my seat to level it out. What the heck are these designers thinking... they're sure not thinking about our comfort... and seeing as most of us are older farts (did I say that?)... with other aches and pains... do we really need more from a poorly designed seat? I say not...Rog(UK) - Yorkshire Dales wrote:Looking at the profile view of the 'R' has made me wonder more than once if the designers could have made the seat angle less inclined and provide a more comfortable platform on which to sit.

I just finished a 9 day, 3500 mile ride on my Rockster (including two 700+ mile days). I find the stock tall seat to be very comfortable. Along with the stock bars. I'm 5'10, btw.
For this trip I wore MotoGP Alpine riding pants (w/ and w/out the zip in liner, plus bicycle shorts.
It's a great combination,imo.

Hi, someone else complained and offered a solution which is what I did with mu 1100RS. The RS had a smooth seat and the rider would slide forward. I do not have this problem with the Rockster but because I'm tall I find that my knees touch the oil cooler cover which can be irritating on long trips. The fact that I have skinny bony legs compounds the problem.
don't think about the meaning of life, think about the next ride
I had the same problem, but jacking up the front of the seat also helped that. It puts my knees just high enough to miss the oil cooler cover.cone wrote:... I tend to agree with you although I don't really experience any problems with it. I do noticed that wearing leathers in stead of weather proof pants prevents you from sliding forward.
I occasionally feel my right knee touching the oilcooler as well. I'm 6'. But when I remind myself of the advice from the track racing school to keep a "fist" of space between tank and d*ck
, I have no problem at all...
