Help needed for a couple of problems

2 bits of advice needed -
1. I need to replace a bulb in the rev counter. Is there an easy way or do I have to remove the screen, headlight, instrument covers to get at them?
2. My headlight flasher does not work.
The handlebar switch will switch from dipped to high beam but the flasher position does not work. Any ideas as to what the problem is and what should I do?
Any advice will be gratefully appreciated!
Adrian.

Not sure about question one
question two, remove screw from bottom of switch and remove gently
you can use WD40 but that dries out so i used sewing machine oil and
soaked all of the switch to lubricate & preserve from the elements and
to inhibit corrosion, other than that ....new switch $250.

Answers:
1. Yes, and make sure that you have the replacement bulb on hand, some of these rascals are hard to obtain and pricey.
2. The flasher is nothing more than a spring loaded momentary contact, with the high beam being an on/off switch. Assuming that that it's not broken, it appears that the contact might be dirty.
Arbee's sugestion is a good one. You can also blow some air after the WD40 application and apply more WD40. Do exercise the switch during this period.
I'm not going to suggest removal and further dissasembly since I'm unaware of your skill level and might prove disastrous, with me on the receiving end.......good luck.

While you have the screen, headlight and instrument cover off why not replace all the bulbs with these led units, they are also available in other colours.
You will need 4 of these, 2 for the speedo and 2 for the rev counter

And 1 of these for the clock.

Thanks for the replies.
I am normally quite good at dismantling and re assembly but i do like to do my homework first! Always a good idea to pick the brains of someone wiser first!
I will try cleaning the switch first - if a new one costs as much as $250, I think I can do without the flasher!

If cleaning and oiling the swtich do not help, you may need to check the wiring.
BMW is know to over tighting the zip ties on the wiring harness. I have had to splice and solder 3 breaks due to this.

I've had to do a couple as well..Both on the right side just before where the wires enter under the tank..It's worth checking for any cuts in the outer plastic tube.

iowabeakster, I put the black tape there because the abs lights keep flashing and the oil light stays on and they annoy me when I am driving especially at night.

Great plan. I also find these lights terribly annoying. The black tape is quite attractive.
