A total of 20 bikes were tested and grouped into five bike categories: Allrounder, Sport, Big bikes (including R1200R), Enduro/fun, and Tourer/sporttourer.

The winners of each category were then pitted against each other in a final supertest. The R1200R was placed 1st by three out of the six judges and 2nd by a further two judges. The final judge placed the R1200R third.

Of course, all us victims of a test ride did not need a magazine to tell us that :!:

What were the results in the other categories?

Hi Everybody

As much as I applaud the result, this comparison was the strangest test I've ever seen. Bikes were grouped by very unlikely criteria and it appeared that results were entirely arbitrary.
I believe that tests appearing in "Motorrad" have to be taken with more than a grain of salt.

Cheers anyhow

The test was to find the best Alp bike. The categories were just in the lead up issues - kind of semifinals if you will. So, if you mean which bikes won their semifinals:

Allrounder: Honda Hornet 600
Sportsbike: Honda CBR 600RR
Big Bikes: BMW R1200R
Enduro/Fun: Triumph Tiger 1050
Tourer/Sportstourer: BMW K1200R Sport

The Tiger in its new form hardly qualifies as an enduro/dual sport.

Chi-Town where did you get that Icon or whatever of yours? The guy standing on the motorcycle on the hill. I saw a sign like that on the Blue Ridge Parkway last month. Mounted on a sign pole and all.
I thought perhaps it was put up by a vandal from a large mid western city.
