This years trip was taken over 5 days. In all we covered 1380 miles.
Day 1 Home - Alston - Gretna Green - Glasgow - Loch Lomond - Connel

Day 2 Connel(nr Oban) - Fort William - Invergarry - Kyle of Lochalsh - Gairloch - Ullapool

Day 3 Ullapool - Ledmore - Durness - Thurso - John o' Groats - Dornoch

Day 4 Dornoch - Muir of Ord - Loch Ness - Spean Bridge - Aviemore - Balmoral - Braemar - Pitlochry

Day 5 Pitlochry - Crieff - Edinburgh - Jedburgh - Corbrige - Home

Day 1 We all met up for a final check/fill up and route decider.


This year we decided to go over the Pennines via Alston for our first stop.

Its the highest village in England


Our first night stop was at The Oyster Inn at Connel Bridge near Oban



With views over to the Isle of Mull





The hot smoked salmon chowder was especially good



Day 2 this took in Fort William, Kyle of Lochalsh, Plockton, Badachro, Gairloch.



You can just see Ben Nevis through the mist






I just had to take some more photos of Eilean Donan castle

Well all this biking sure makes you thirsty




Day 3 Today we are going as far north as you can reach.
To Durness on the north west and John o' Groats on the north east.

The ferry had arrived overnight




















Justed stopped off for a quick game of darts



That's the Orkney isles with Scapa flow to the right

and just to prove I made it there......





Day 4 Getting loaded up at our stop over in Dornoch



Just deciding which way to go today as the weather still looks like it will hold good for us.



We are just past Loch Ness and Fort Augustus and had to stop for a swing bridge.





This is Loch Laggan dam on the way to Aviemore







These two guys we stopped to talk to were from Serbia and had already been travelling for 25 days





Arriving at our hotel in Pitlochry



and a well earned meal at the local Indian restaurant



I guess this guy had too much Cobra beer !!!!!



and back to the hotel for a well earned rest



Day 5 Heading off back home and can't wait for next year

Found this, was able to track it, what a ride!!!

Beautiful Tony. I loved the photos of the castle too. I can't imagine being able to ride along the countryside and come upon such sights like that!!

But these two photos were favorites as well. I can see people on the beach! Sounds like a fun trip and it was obviously a beautiful one.

Not windy at all though along the north coast it was around 14 degrees C so I had to use the heated grips

How was the whiskey?

Didn't drink any but passed a few distilleries along the way. We mainly stuck to the beer!!! We are found of our pints us Brits.
