Hey all!

Currently on day three of the father/son trip (motel computer.) We've just arrived in Northern MN, after doing a Lake Superior loop in Canada.

Yesterday, while parked at a diner/gas station/hotel/grocery store in the north woods, our bikes were struck. A driver with his back window full of cr@p backed into my bike, which fell over onto my father's Ultra Classic, knocking it over.

Good news - the system cases are tough. Really tough. Not even a scratch, and the car had a HUGE dent in the trunk where it hit. Bad knews, the bike got scuffed up pretty good on the other side by gravel and the new Shoei (hanging on the bar end) is chipped pretty bad. My father's bike was damaged far worse. I imagine replacing all that chrome will be expensive. Thank God he was insured.

I guess I'm officially past the "My Brand New Baby" stage. Now it's a bike with some character.

Early this summer it seemed like my new bike was a magnet for Jack-asses. In a parking lot at a grocery store as I approached the bike I watched a negligent moss back let his cart go as he sorted the stuff in his trunk. The cart rolled a short way and into my bike's cases. I AM glad it didn't hit the tank though. I asked the wife ( loud enough for him to hear ) if she reckoned he knew that was a brand new bike he was letting his cart run into? He wouldn't look at us but made sure all of the carts in the cart container were neat and tight. Two weeks later at another grocery store a man in the worlds most oxidized car opened his nasty looking door into my case (once again glad it was the case ) and when I yelled "Hey" just gave me a smile. It goes against my grain to be anything but super friendly to people I meet whilst on my bike or in the car for that matter but some folks make it mighty tough.

I have been checking the news.... no murder happened?

He'd have had a gun too (.357) but since we were crossing the Canadian border, he left it at home. He looked angry enough to use it too. That's one lucky Canadian.
