black plastic on rims

Post by frbank6 »

I've got a Yellowjacket that has the blue rims. Apparently I took off without securing the black plastic BMW sidestand plate I use (at the insistence of my girlfriend) and it jammed between the brake caliper and the rim on the drive side of the rear wheel. It made a full revolution before encountering a wheel weight and breaking. Question is, on its journey around the rim, it left tiny bits of black plastic adhering to the painted surface. Any suggestions on how to remove these tiny bits? Some come off with just a fingernail, but others are pretty securely stuck. I was thinking a very judicious application of heat might do the trick. Any help will be appreciated.

Isopropyl alcohol is a good non-damaging cleaner.

DJ, when I was in your home country, Eucalyptus Oil was the treatment for any/everything! Great stuff! :smt040

Thanks for the replies; I'll have to give it a try. I think Eucalyptus Oil is the main ingredient in Goo-Gone.
