Garage door opener

Hey guys. I've seen a small garage door opener built specifically for mounting on a motorcycle. Can't think of where I've seen them or the brand, but have any of you used it and if so, are you happy with it? And of course the brand if you have one. Thanks. dingle

After an extensive R and D session, here's my install. I took the clip off the back of the opener and velcroed it to the back side of my computer screen module! In that location, behind my Scout fairing, it should stay high and dry. I simply lean a little forward, hit the opener down the street and drive into my garage!

Ahh, the simple design! I have an elaborate design that I would someday like to implement, but the easy fix is, I put the remote in one of the waterproof pockets on my jacket. I can still use the remote through the thin outside layer of the jacket.

I think you're referring to the Taiddan unit. I bought one a couple of years ago and really liked it, and I recently tried to buy another. But they seem to be gone. Not really surprising--they infringed a lot of patents when they cloned the established manufacturers' designs, and I'd guess they got sued into another galaxy.

Yep, this "garage door opener" & where to carry it and what kind to use is something that probably has more effect on a good ride than any other subject. Here's my solution guys; I have wired my "door opener" to my horn button so that I don't have to carry more things than necessary. Now bear in mind that my "opener" is no doubt a little older than yours, therefore not so compact. I live in an older house with a detached garage, so this is my routine. As I turn into the driveway, I push the horn button twice. By the time I have pulled close to the garage & turned the bike around to back in, my "opener" of 42 years has scurried out of the house & opened the overhead door for me. As I push the bike into the garage, my "opener" gives me a kiss & says "Glad you're home". Works for me!!!

Hoosier: My opener is only eight years old and I've yet to get a kiss from it! But then it's never bitched at me either! Just kidding. After 42 years, it sounds like you've got things well in order. Did you end up buying a new R yet?

Richard: No, I haven't taken the plunge yet. I've had some situations come up in the extended family that have kept me pretty busy this Spring. Seems like when I have a break in those responsibilities, it rains. My local dealer has two 12R's in stock. Both are the dark granite color which I like. Both are really loaded with more options than I want. Maybe I won't get anything done until later in the season. At least I have a bike that I am very happy with for the time being.
