Most, 'bad guys' dont bother taking a Concealed Weapons permit.
It just gives him a heads up and as noted by FGanger, just pass him that with your License (if you are carrying or not) and let him ask if you are carrying. A lot of people get CW permits for hunting. In most states it is illegal to carry a firearm while trapping and/or bow hunting but they want it as a back-up to wolf/bear attacks. They get the CW so they wont get busted by Game Wardens.
First of all, the .40 caliber is here to stay. Though it will never be as popular as the 9mm or the .45ACP much to the dismay of its proponent. I don't care much for it, preferring either the 9mm or the .45ACP but it will do in a pinch.
As far as guns go, if you're going to ride a BMW then you need to own a SIG. HKs are damn good gun but doesn't quite have the distinctive style and quality of a SIG.
Glocks are good guns, especially for the price, but rather generic. It makes a good match for the rice burner crowd.
After all, BMW owners are reknowned for their taste in fine machineries, right?

Yong - In NC, you are required by law to notify any LEO if you are carrying concealed during any contact. Have heard of no problems here from that. Most LEO assume if you pass the background check, you are one of the "good guys" and not a problem.
I agree with fnfalman - BMW riders should use SIGs or H&Ks, with the exceptlions of revolvers, 1911s and Browning Hi-Powers, of course.

Paper and clay targets are just fine for me, but not as good as shooting in a junk yard or a garbage dump, "Wow, did you see that transmission after I hit it?"
I'm with you on this, FGanger! My spare time during my pre-teen years were spent in a dump in the bottom of a strip mine pit. I would throw cans and bottles into the water there and shoot them until sunk with my trusty Daisy 840. I remember Dad being amazed that I would go through a box of 5000 BB's a week. I got pretty dam good with that gun!
Later, I "graduated" to larger and more powerful weapons - all the way up to a 105mm main gun of an M60A3 Main Battle Tank!. I have never found that same challenge or satisfaction as I did with that pellet gun, though.
Ah yes. I spent many an afternoon roaming around with my Daisy 880 air rifle. I'd set up coke cans at a distance and sometimes use up to 10 BB's with 10 pumps to get a shotgun effect on the targets. Because of the relatively low sound report and the flexibility of projectiles (BB's or pellets), I had loads of fun with it for a few years. The closest equivalent of it in the real firearms realm is a .22 rifle or handgun.

i've never fired anything stronger than a paint ball gun. bb guns and paint ball guns. i don't deny anyone from owning one, I just don't know if I want one in the house.
However, the idea of thugs roaming after a major disaster gives one reason to pause.

I led what could be described as a deprived childhood. My father had a strange idea regarding air guns. It was his theory that if he allowed me to have a BB gun or a pellet gun I would think of it as a toy, and I would use it as a toy.
Instead, at nine he bought me my first .22 rifle. A bolt action, J.C. Higgins from Sears. He placed a bar of laundry soap about 50 feet from us and shot it with the rifle. The bar of Fells Naphtha Soap, which was as hard as a brick, exploded into a cloud of dust. He turned to me and said, “If the shot did that to the soap imagine what it would do if it hit a person.†I never thought of the .22 as a toy before I had one and I certainly didn’t think of it as a toy after his demonstration.
I had my first shotgun, a 16 gauge Mossburg pump, given to me as a Christmas present at 13. That very morning I got my first Pheasant with it.
I believe I was 18 when I was able to buy an air gun. By that time I was pretty much done playing with guns. I didn’t go through the faze of BB gun fights like many of my friends did. I still have a number of air guns left. A couple of Daisy Red Riders, a Daisy tube fed pump, a couple of Crosman 1100 CO2 shotguns with the target launcher, a Daisy NRA, scoped target pellet pistol, and a couple of Crosman CO2 pistols. Great fun all of them.
While I didn’t have the memories of a “5000 BB week,†I did have many .22 brick days.

Perhaps BMW needs to have a special SIG model made for them. One could finance the pistol along with the bike. Serial numbers could be the same for both the bike and the pistol. I can see in BMW’s future a special CCP model of an R or K bike. BMW may even offer the open carry model.

To your, “I've never fired anything stronger†comment. Scott, it’s not your fault. You are so lucky to live in what must be the safest place on Earth - New York. This is especially true if you live within the New York boroughs. New York City has always had the strictest of gun laws - the Sullivan Law. Of course now New York City has Washington D.C. as competition for the safest city award.
Your lack of firearm usage is a fault you can overcome. I’m sure there are many on this site who will be quite pleased to help you through this trying time. I would offer assistance, but I also live in a “safe city,†Chicago - actually just outside the city. Chicago and Illinois are almost as safe a place to live as New York City and Washington D.C. Now when I move next Summer to my home in Florida I would be pleased to assist in your transformation. Of course Palm Coast is not nearly as safe a place as the above mentioned places.

Now Bob, I’m not saying that the purple Teletubby doesn't deserve shooting. I think Pat has a couple of excellent points. Selecting the purple tubby because it is reported to be gay is just plain wrong. Now if you proposed to shoot all of them, just on general principles, that’s another story.
You could use the old Texas legal defense comment, “Your honor, the man needed killing.†The accused would then go on to prove all the bad/evil things the deceased did to deserve being shot. If there was enough of them, the jury could find the accused not guilty. I’m sure you could find a preponderance of evidence to prove the Tubbys need shooting.
And speaking of shooting, your recommendation of a Desert Eagle .357 needs to be addressed. A good case could be made for using such a pistol, however, an equally good case could be made for using a scoped varmint rifle. Perhaps one of the new .17 caliber models, rim fire or center fire.

Pat I was going to suggest you need a long vacation after I read your, “Bob! That ain’t right,†post. Now I see it was written late at night. Your morning comment shows a good night sleep. Of course you may still need a long vacation with your new bike. This time of the year is perfect for bike touring, unless one has to work - like me . . . sigh.

I dont hate any teletubbies. They gave me breaks of 15 minutes at a time while my daughter was hypnotized by them.

I DO indeed need a vacation, and Friday will be the start of one..... finally.
In fact, I haven't been sleeping at all well for a month now. I'm in bed three hours later than usual, waking up three hours later, then unable to be to go back to sleep.
Ah yes....... my BB gun; it was a rifle. My buddy went down range to put the milk carton back on it's perch, and I shot it out of his hand. We both knew that what I did was really stupid, never said another word about it, and handled our little BB rifles with the utmost of respect from that day forth. A couple years later I found myself in California, taking aim at a bird on the wires overhead. It fell to the ground dead, and I have NO DESIRE EVER to shoot an animal for sport.
I enjoy VERY MUCH shooting either my Springfield 1911, S&W 5" .357, or Bull Barrel Ruger .22, from 25 yards at a B-27 or bull's eye. There is nothing more gratifying than to watch a grouping dead center begin to open up and expose the wall behind it. I used to be pretty good, creating a group of about 5" from 50 yards with my S&W revolver iron sights..... Rather surprising how it all comes back together after not having handled a gun in a few years.
The only time I break out the ridiculous 3" Magna Ported S&W .44 magnum, is simply to show off while creating "shock & awe"....... Oddly enough, my groups at 25 yards are a little high, and I might get a couple flyers; can't imagine why .
