Could you use a Dremel to relieve the tank bag fitting in those places where it's too thick?

Bob,

Might I suggest removing the Bags Connection bits? If I understand how it mounts, it is a piece that bolts to the standard cap assembly after drilling some holes. If there are nuts used under the cap assembly is it possible it's lifting that part up so the cap doesn't seal as tightly as it should? If so - I'd be looking for some way to increase the tension on the actual catch so it pulls the cap down harder.

Just a thought. I suspect doubling up on the gaskets isn't going to work very well. There are very few glues that are really resistant to gasoline (which also contains benzene and toluene - both are solvents used to break down some glues and epoxies.)

The other vague possibility might be a flat O ring. I have some of these, but dunno if I have any of the right inside diameter. These in cross section are about 1/8" wide x 1/32" thick (a rectangular cross-section, unlike a normal O ring.) It might be possible to get one of these behind the rubber seal on the center of the cap. If interested, let me know and I'll see what's kicking around in the garage.
