My spline shaft failed today

+1 Bob. I got a junior in HS and college is crawling up.

I have no vehicle payments (2 autos, 2 bikes) and I really like it this way.
Collecting titles is a very habit forming exercise.

This issue is about as creepy as it gets.
It's machinery for crying out loud, and it's got as many clues as reading Tarot cards or Ouija boards. I want to get Hyperpro shocks for my R and each new tale of woe turns me into a frightened turtle.

I am not gaga on the origami styling changes BMW has made after 2006.
I still love the bike as much as the day I first rode it.....I think I'll just go for a ride tonight.....
(the 04 K1200GT is still a gorgeous bike, but doesn't that one have the same FD?)

I was all set to buy dgates's (the original poster of this thread) shocks. My wife was already completely cool with the purchase (she is great). I completely chickened out. I didn't want to invest any more in this bike... until I knew my bike was not afflicted.

I guess I'm not too paranoid though. I'm taking off for a week of camping in about 36 hours.

I love my bike more than I did when it was new. It really is exactly what I want in a bike.

Fingers crossed... In a couple of months...I will be putting on new shocks on it during reassembly... after the spline inspection. I'll love it even more when the lingering fears are put to rest. Then, I will really be itching for some mega-tours on my "little" naked bike.

That's the thing. There really are no telltale clues are there?

My bike runs and shifts ultra smooth. No problem downshifting/upshifting whatsoever, nothing leaks or makes any noise. My bike still looks and runs like brand new.....yet you just don't know.
