I need to post something ...so this is a photo of my bike parked up at a outlook about 20mins from my home Queenstown in New Zealand, its the road to Glenorchy a very small township at the head of the lake....a film was made there recently called "Top of the Lake" for a TV series supposedly filmed for american tv, director and writer was Jane Campion. It was odd as Jane Campion does, but I liked it...it was very as the say here "Kiwi".
Anyways I hope the photo post here.

Hi, Bob,

The top loaders really make for a good looking set-up! Bet they are very user friendly too.

A real fan of the top loaders, especially for commuting and schlepping around a laptop, etc. A bit cumbersome when taking on/off bike, but I can live with that. Thanks for the comments.

Unfortunately, due to work, the Appalacia trip I'd been planning for months had to be cancelled. But I was able to throw together a nice five day, fall foliage trip through Michigan (Lower and Upper) and Wisconsin. I moved my time off up to take advantage of the Midwest peak color and headed out.

Crossed on the ferry from Milwaukee to Muskegon, MI. If you ever find yourself in the neighborhood, I thoroughly recommend. They were running a discount special, so I only paid for myself - my baby got to ride for free :)

Image

As calm as it looks from the photo, I assure you, it wasn't. This time of year is pretty rough. Walking around on the ship was nearly impossible, and for the 2.5 hour trip, I was the only person on the observation deck. But it was beautiful and I was happy to find my RR still upright after the trip.

Customary Ghost Rider shot after disembarking...

Some of the views along the Michigan shoreline:

I booked a cabin on Lake Huron for two nights. It's the tourist off-season, so I got a great rate and had a nice home base for a couple of days to putz around in Lower Michigan:

The view from the cabin of the Mackinac Bridge:

Image

Lower Michigan is a blast to ride. I stuck to small, county and state park roads mostly. Unfortunately, it's a really sandy state. The gravel roads aren't hard packed like in Wisconsin, so it got a lil' hairy in parts - but always well worth it.

Image

Some of the fall colors showing through along ATV trails (I'm not sure I was supposed to ride them, but it was mid-week, and I never encountered any other travellers):

Met up with my Dad in the Upper Peninsula to tour around for a few days. This shot is at a tiny gas stop on Hwy 58 that runs along the coast of Lake Superior. Normally it'd be very busy this time of year, but the Federal shut-down had the National Parks closed. We had the whole stretch virtually to ourselves and it was brilliant riding. We just ignored the cones and barricades where they came up (shhh, no telling Uncle Sam).

Image

Took my Dad to his first Gay Bar. Other than the name, and the pink can coozies, it was pretty straight :)

Image

All and all, a great trip for as quickly as it was thrown together. As always, the RR was a treat to ride.

Decided to get a last tour in before the snow starts to fall. Starting point was near Frankfurt Germany where I live.

Packed up and ready to go
Image

First overnight, the beautiful ski town Lech in the Arlberg region of the Austrian alps.
Image

The next next morning I headed north through the Lech valley on some incredible Alpine roads, many of which are only open in the summer.
Image

2nd overnight, the Tegernsee in southern Bavaria, about an hour south of Munich.
Image

The last day was the ride back home, which unfortunately after 2 days of beautiful sunny weather, was a miserable 7 hour ride in the pouring rain! Still, a great tour and arrived back home wet but happy.

Did my first longer trip with my new R, I am so in love with this bike!

From Indianapolis area to Louisville, KY, then to Potosi, Missouri (falling leaf rally) and from there back to Louisville, KY for a day break and then to Staunton, VA to ride the Skyline drive (got to ride the first hours it was re-opened after government shut down) and Blueridge Parkway.

Missouri and on way to Missouri:

Virginia and Westvirginia:

Beautiful colors and roads on Blueridge parkway:

After an hour of thinking there is a great burnt leaves smell following me I found this:
Image

Lost Rider is a 'bad' influence on me. I decided to be more adventurous and got tired of seeing other people on roads (as few as they were) and took a turn onto this small street, not knowing where it really goes, but it did go along side the blueridge parkway and down the mountain, so I figured it would be a pretty view as well... well, after a few minutes the pavement disappeared and since I was going downhill at that point and already on gravel, there was only one way to go (would have continued either way)... it was great! my first gravel/dirt road experience (only dared to stop and take pictures though at the not so bad parts of the road):

Bike performed great of course!

Before pavement disappeared:
Image

then it was gone:

after I got "unlost" (or at least back to paved roads):
Image

Skyline drive: (yes another "bad" thing I learned that is probably Lost Rider's fault too: taking pictures while riding, Ok, would have done it either way, I have done that before I saw any of his pics.. just thought I'll blame someone else..ha)

Westvirginia (somewhere on route 60/Midland trail)

it was a cold ride back through WV

Did a lost tour with Lost Rider this Spring, a few pics from that trip:

Yes... I got to ride the infamous bike :) and I loved it! Loved the Ohlin suspension (better than my brand new bike's suspension), and loved his Ohlin's steering damper!! and I absolutely loved the tour!! Can't wait to do another one!

hmm.. I know I had more pictures, but this process is taking too much time and I should probably get some work done today :)
