Both are on sale at Max BMW and include a rubber O-ring. Apply a thin smear of oil to the ring, and the cap snaps on.

There's just something about milled aluminum.

Out and about today. Added matching black cases, including a 49L topcase.

It's a forum....you know....discussion: You do this, I do that, why do you, how does that work, etc......
People make their own decisions is obviouse; if we left things there we'd have no need for discourse.
I was just raising a couple points but, you're right, the word "Think" came off a bit smart-arse which was not my intent.

Now...in keeping with the thread....

No worries about instrument-blocking with the OEM navigation mount. Part of the tachometer is obscured, but you're not missing mission-critical data (Engine pitch is generally my cue when to shift).

A bigger concern is a gloved finger interaction on a GPS touchscreen. It's really awful. The fabric can make an already-fat finger just massive on tiny virtual buttons. Touch the wrong button, and you've fallen into an interface rabbit hole. Tapping on a touchscreen while under way is not that far removed from texting while driving a car. Bluntly put, touchscreens draw an unsafe level of attention away from motoring. I initially bought the zumo 660 but exchanged it for BMW's Navigatior IV for this reason. The Navi IV includes a terrific mount with four haptic buttons (which are backlit!). Their clicky feedback, when zooming on a map or advancing a music track, require less eye time than touchscreen only. Alas, although the Navi IV and 660 are essentially the same head unit, the IV mount's buttons don't work with the 660.

Motoring is inherently dangerous, and any doodads, haptic or not, that take you away from the already-complex task aren't good. But that touchscreen with gloves is a bag of hurt.

This is a familiar view. We've ridden to the Observatory many times. If you have time, go to the Junction on the back side where dozens and dozens of bikes and riders gather for food, drink and bench racing.

Oh yes, been there many times. These are all local roads to me: Mt. Hamilton, Mines, Del Puerto, and so on. Good stuff!

Couple of pictures of my bike from Mohican State Parke today.

Plain black wrapper? I like it just the way it came - Throttlemeister, three bags, MotoLights (they are the best) and a Sargent saddle. I added a 2012 25" Cee Bailey screen to swap in/out with a sportscreen on long trips; magnetic Corbin tank bag/backpack thingie is nice, too.

The size of license plates in Europe is just obnoxious in my opinion. I understand it's suppose to be visible, but this is getting out of hand.

Yeah, and this already is the smallest possible size.

I rarely see mine while riding so I don't really consider it much of a problem
