I have never been bitten by the cruiser bug and don't think I ever will. The few I have sat on seem awkward to me. Of course, I rode an RS, with very short bars for a long time and still think the old R90S riding position is the perfect setup! I think the cruisers all look rather silly, no matter what brand.
I guess my biggest problem with cruisers, at least around here, is I could not bring myself to be thought of as the black t-shirt-pudding bowl helmet- shorts and flip flops type of rider that so often seems to be riding them!

I keep telling my wife that when I get the Roackster paid off, that I want a cruiser. We'll see I guess. The one I want though is the Triumph Rocket III, 149 hp, 147 fp of torque. I just hope they still make them when I get ready to take that plunge....
I am a bit short on inseam, and my R12C is my favorite for long distances. It is my 1st cruiser out of 2 (trying to sell the VStar 650), and never knew that I would enjoy the R12C so much. It is now 66K miles and will be 8 yrs old end of this June.
Furthest north (from Sacramento, CA) is to British Columbia, Canada. A small town called Kimberley. South it'll have to be the Phoenix, AZ area. East will be Leadville, CO. West is the Pacific Coast.
My longest ride is from the Canadian border near Eureka, MT down thru Spokane, WA, along the Columbia River crossing John Day Dam thru central Oregon to Klamath Falls just north of the CA border. That was about 14 hrs in the saddle and 730 miles.
I am just glad that the ergos are not like traditional cruisers, and is very comfy. However, the bottoms of my pegs are beveled. The bike's oscillation on a wavy stretch of twisties along with aggressive riding had me bumping asphalt against the bottom of my catalytic converter. I still believe the R12C is a much better handling cruiser than 99% of cruisers made.
For the twisties, I love my Rockster. These 2 bikes are very different from each other. The R12C has that "grunt" associated with cruisers, and gets me moving much differently than the Rock does. Performance-wise, the Rock wins (not surprisingly)... but there is something so familiar and likeable about the R12C.
Like a favorite pair of old sneakers.
Traffic signals timed for 35mph, are also timed for 70mph.
Well, I sorted out my cruiser urge.
I just picked up my new 2007 Harley Dyna Superglide Custom.
No bugs in the teeth, I use a full face helmet.
No more uncomfortable than my R so far ( only done 230ks )
No end to what you can put on it, 2" thick catalogue sees to that.
I still have my R, but will probably sell that when the weather fines up,
unless someone is looking for one in Australia at the moment.
What does the Harley go for in Aussie $ ? When I was there in 92', I met I new Harley owner at Bondi Beach, He said it ran $20,000 back then. He even offered to let me ride it on the Beach! The darn tour bus was leaving....
RIDE TOO PRETEND, PRETEND TOO RIDE.

Now, sit back and wait for all the comments.
Congratulations on your Harley johno, I can understand your choice Please post a photo - I for one would like to see it!
I'm getting to like my R1150R more and more after a shaky start but a cruiser like yours is never far from my heart, if not my head!

2004 black R1150R... and a 1930 Thürmer grand piano - heaven!
Good one Johno - It's a whole new world of riding for you. My brother went from a Dyna Wide Glide to a Road King to a GS1200. Every one was a very different machine, but he enjoyed them all. Just be careful of the ground clearance on your first set of twisties! And post some pics with the R while you still have it. Cheers mate, Mick.
I ride an R1150GS Adventure with sidecar. IBA #39193
Harley prices in Australia havent gone up much in the last 7 years, as the dollar is fairly strong againt the US dollar.
In fact my dealer said the price hasnt changed for 5 years.
I paid $24,250 + on road costs. Mine has the smooth chrome rim option that adds $500. ( Aussie $ )
If I new how to load a photo, I would.
As stated, I like my R, but I wanted a change, and the Harley was a better package than the Jap cruisers. Jap cruisers dont hold any resale value, and I couldnt handle the seats on any of them. Plus there options are limited.
Interestingly enough, the older I get the less I like cruisers. Had an HD Sportster once upon a time and enjoyed it somewhat until I traded it for a Ducati 750 PASO. That was the end of the cruiser deal for me. Never looked back. I do test drive the occasional Harley, Victory, metric now and then just to make sure that I haven't missed out on anything.
Haven't missed out on anything. But that's just me.
Cogito Ergo Vroom - I think therefore I ride.
