I too would like to know how to get 10k mi on a rear tire,(tyre). I currently am running the avon storm with 4500mi and lots of room to the TWI strips.I ran 2 Z6s and only 6500- 7k and the cords were showing.

I ran ME880s on my R and managed 10,500 miles on the rear tire and it probably could have lasted me to 11 but the front was cupped pretty bad.

Its not hard to get that kind of mileage: don't ride it like its a race bike and put some touring tires on it that are made for a bike that weighs 500 pounds or more.

I have had a lot of tires since this original thread. I like the Pilot Roads. They feel very stable in the rain.

I just ordered a Pilot Road rear.

Tires I've had great luck with in the past

Conti Road Attack
Shinko 009 Raven
Good Ol Bridgestone Battlax (I think BT45 or 46 can't remember)

Never really had luck or liked the way any Dunlop I've ridden on has felt. I've taken to calling them Dunflops. They may be good for some folks but I don't care for them.

Maybe I ain't riding hard enough!
Vann, have you seen Chitown's footpegs on the 1200R?

It's ME880s for me. I have never noticed any sliding in the corners on them. :p
