Having travelled extensivley through Europe fully loaded with my wife, full panniers (including sleeping bags on top of each), tank bag and the rear rack loaded with tent, sleeping mats etc (our total weight was always way over what the book says). Through Germany we would sit for long periods at 110-120 mph with no problem...........except for gas guzzling and a bit of oil useage.

the upper pic was made during cruising throught Adriatic coast, the lower one was made on a trip to Sarajevo..

What kind of a wind shield do you have installed ?

Kazushi - Don't be surprised at 200 km/hr on the R. I've done it a few times, measured by GPS. I've hit 205 with the side cases and top box loaded. I've never done a fully stripped down run.
Max speed on my trip around Aus with the huge load in this pic was 182. I have also discovered that the R is slightly faster with cases on than without. Slower to get to top end, but faster by a couple of km/hr. Aerodynamics plays a part.
My screen is a Bikescreens job from New Zealand that I have been using for the last 45,000 kms. Works well. The lip was added for my trip to get the bugs well over my visor. Mild noise, but no buffet.

Hey MIXR,
200 Km/h doesn't surprise me speed wise, it's just that the wind resistance on a naked bike would make the ride almost impossible !
I have the original small wind screen on my bike, I do up to 140-150 Km/h
with minor wind discomfort, but anything over 160 is too windy for safe riding...

Kazushi...my screen is a little beauty...it's so much better than no screen...and better than the standard fly/speedster screen.
It's more of a wind deflector than a screen...it's off a 650GS...and fits the standard mounts...it stops the wind hitting the chest area.
No probs at that speed...although I do have to assume the position..

Looks good, silver color makes it tie in with the headlight...
It's surprising that it's better than the standard small screen considering the size...
Now that you mention it, I still have the standard screen from my previous F650ST... will give it a try, although the color (black) will not look so great on my silver R.
HHMM.. If mounting holes fit, I might work out a combination of both together to give it a nifty look...

Thanks for the replies about the stability of the cases. I left for my trip within 30 minutes of asking the question and so I didn't get to read the other replies until I returned. But......I can concur with what everyone told me. They will withstand speeds well over 80 mph
.......and heat over 105 degrees for extended periods of time.
What a trip! I had so much fun, I think I'll head out on another 5 day trip this Saturday.
