well, fitted the Z6s today and have covered about 200 miles on them so a little early to tell. nothing dramatic but they do inspire more cornering confidence than the original Dunlops.

After an enthusiastic ride today with two board brethern, I think I can say the Pirelli Stardas with be the equal of the Z6s for handling. Which means I chicken out well before the tires do.

Mileage? I'll let you know in about 6 months.

Never tried them before but it was time for tires and you guys are sure positive about these Z6's. Ordered them yesterday so I should have them mounted and semi-scuffed for the bash.

I think these are the first new tires I've bought in some time but the ducati sold finally and I'm feeling flush.

36 front 42 rear. Even though my front dunlop has plenty left on it the rear is squared so I'm thinking of binning them and fitting some Z6's.

I second the Pilot Roads, alot easier to tell when you are nearing the end of rear wheel tread. I liked the Z6s, but watch out, TWI bars are pretty useless as they are not on the center of the tire, & when you see the center is looking a bit worn, look out, the tire just evaporates & you may have less than 100 miles to full circle steel belts showing.

So far my Pilot Roads seem to be getting a bit better mileage, I'm leaning the bike over farther as I'm scraping at least on peg feeler from time to time, & they feel just as sticky as the Z6s. I'll stick with the Pilot Roads for the TWIs as much as any other reason.

The Z6s are fantastik tires & I did enjoy them, just not the last 50 miles. I saw the gleam of a steel belt down in a "craze" on the tire, BMW shop is 45 miles away, by the time I got there steel belt was showing all the way around. Of course I assume there is a second steel belt!

Hey Guys. At what tread depth do you renew your tyres? In the UK, the police change them at 3mm. I change at 2mm absolute minimum. Any less than that, and as they say in Yorkshire, "You're a cheap skate" I'm really sorry to be a wet blanket here, but it's not good to say that the wires were nearly showing when the tyre were changed. Life can be very, very cheap. I've had a serious accident when a Range Rover pulled straight across me. It was very slight consolation to me to know that I had no chance of avoiding the collision. If I were in the same hospital bed and was thinking that the accident was caused by worn tyres, then I would have been thoroughly pi...sed off!

Get Real. Yes bike tyres are a major expense. - It's like paying, comparatively, whatever, £1000 each for a car tyre. (considering mileage and cost)

There are no second chances. I hate to see little crosses at the side of the road.

For f...ks sake. Replace your tyres well before the legal limit.

I agree - change your tyres before reaching the legal limit. Just for interest, here in the UK the legal limit is 1mm tread depth across the whole tyre. I know this as I have just had my RR in for it's MOT (annual roadworthy test - for those ocross the pond!) and I asked the question. There is less tollerance for cars, apparantly.

The tester did say that there was often problems in measuring tread depth as some tyres do not have tread across the whole tyre.

I have Z4's which have done 7200 miles and still look to have some meat left but I will be changing for Z6's within some weeks as I am off on a tour/
