Man Gord, that's high insurance!
I think it's only going to be around $400 for the Speed Triple here, full coverage.
Of course, I have a bunch of stacked discounts with them for multiple bikes, long time-customer, long-time rider, have had a recent MSF Safety Course, clean driving record (thanks to *many* defensive driving courses to beat tickets) and I'm damn near as old as Grandpa Hoon...
Be careful about buying something like this unless you are very sure that is just what you want and have a few years experience minimum. This is not a forgiving motorcycle like the 50R. Most people would not like this bike...hard edged and narrow focused.
A Hoonbike indeed.

Your bike is just...NASTY! Sexy, nasty! Have you named her yet? Maybe you should just name her "Miss Betty". That way when you're in the throes of passion with either one you won't get in trouble for chanting the other's name...not that that's ever happened to me.

Chef, that's a good idea! But with my luck I'd get confused and call Miz Betty "Norton"...
Reminds me of an old Texas joke:
Ever do it "Rodeo Style"?
That's sort of like "Doggie Style" except you wrap your right arm around her waist and hold your hat up in the air with your left.
Then you call her by her sister's name and try to hold on for 8 seconds without getting bucked off!
Sexy & nasty...pretty good description of the Speed Triple actually. I think this bike would take you to Nirvana or throw you right in the ditch without a second thought.
But I find it more challenging & interesting for a bike to have some teeth & claws. I read about that once in a moto mag editorial called "Twisting the Tiger's Tail".

I hate to disagree with the other fellas about your latest ride..it's not a nice bike at all. It's a lot like Tyra Banks....black, beautiful, and with enough attitude to knock you out if you neglect her for even a second!

Congratulations Dave!
Bucking or not, the big question is how's your butt holding up? I rode the S3 for about an hour and thought someone had alternately pounded my butt with a pile driver and a ballpeen hammer. I loved the flickability but you are right about the different purposes from the RR.
I was smitten by the KR, but if I had known the S3 had the 90 degree valve stem too, I might have looked at it more closely
. I'm just thankful for the long wheel base that helps keep my front tire on the ground when I get a little rambunctious. It acts like a hooligan govenor. Have a great time but be careful out there ungoverned.

Don't know yet, longest ride to date is about an hour. I'll know more Sunday...I'm tired of the break-in putting around.
I may just have a wierd butt (or so I'm told) but I don't find it uncomfortable so much as aggravating that I have no room to move.
Glad I'm keeping the 50R though.
Yeah, that 90 deg. valve stem is what did it for me!
Hmmm...Tyra Banks...yeah...Tyra...that would be a good name for the bike! Better than "The Batmobile" as one of the office fems called it after looking at the little bat-eared flyscreen. She says she is bring a cape for me for Halloween.

Your S3 looks great, congratulations! I think the CRG mirrors are an excellent choice. I have one left mirror on both my Speed Four and Bonneville Thruxton and the quality of the CRG is impeccable.
For a "fender eliminator kit", you might try
http://www.skykingproducts.com or fabricate one yourself. As I remember the fender on the S3 comes off easily with 3 or 4 bolts and then you could use some aluminum to make your license plate bracket.

Thanks for the link Scott. I probably will fab a license plate bracket & signal holder but I always like to see what the aftermarket has too. But you're right...looks pretty simple on the S3.
