I start it and let the oil circulate for 30 seconds or so and then I take off downhill from my driveway and go down our long street 10 to 15mph and then another downhill 10 to 15 mph and after that I have access to my rides.
Extra credits for talking about warming up the tires. I don't get "on it" until the tires have had a chance to warm up, maybe 3 miles or more.

Indeed, I let it warm up for about as long as it takes me to put on helmet and gloves, but I don't rev it over 4000rpm before I got at least 2 bars and I take care with the corners and lean angels until the tires has had a chance to warm up.

Has anyone ever heard of a hexhead engine failure caused by not warming up the engine?

you did what I do, which is roughly one minute. The non-warm up guy would do all that, THEN start the bike and go..

Well...?? Just what is warming up your bike? Does running at idle for 30 sec to 1 minute constitute a warm up? What about ambient temp; Alaska in winter vs Arizona in summer. It's not so simple is it.

+1 on the 30-60 second warmup, a bit more when the weather is cooler. My bike doesn't run quite right, especially just off idle, until it's been warmed up a bit. And definitely, don't rev the engine much until it is thoroughly warmed up - a few minutes riding.
