"If" you can afford it,I see nothing wrong with owning a 12R and a 12GS
A good number of "low milage.like new,used GS's" on the market right now.

We seem to be getting a little Harleyish here. There are quite a few Harley guys who make fun of and look down their noses at those who ride anything other than a Harley. Sure hope this group isn't headed that way. After all, is it not about what you ride but the fact that you ride ? I've loved the funky looks of the 1100 GS since the first day I saw it in a Cycle World 16 years ago. I don't do dirt bike riding, but man, I love riding that bike. No mud, but fire roads and gravel are the most I do. I can also do that on my 1200 R and have done alot of gravel, 2 up with my wife, on my 1900 cc Yamaha Stratoliner. I've owned just about every type of BMW there is, but the 1100 GS is the only one that I have bought 2 of, a 95 and a 98. I've never test rode a new 1200 GS, only for fear that I might like it. But since I don't play in the mud with a $ 20,000 600lb motorcycle, I guess I fall under that poser catagory as well. Do I loose that designation when I get on my R ?
