my 2 cents...

Leather is just too limited in practicality... hot temps... rainy weather... much harder to care for/clean. Textiles are much easier to live with, and high quality textiles will provide great protection.

The most recent purchases I have made...

1. First Gear jacket and pants (2 years ago for my wife), and a Rain suit (1 year ago for me) Very Pleased with all of the pieces bought.

2. Olympia Jacket... Has been my primary jacket for 5+ Years. Mostly Pleased. A few small complaints... but seems like it is very heavy duty and would serve well in case of crash. Reasonably waterproof... and the typical removable, insulated liner. It fit me better (more comfortable) than any other jacket I tried on... and the price (close-out) was so low I couldn't pass it up.

3. Tour Master mesh pants... cheap price... cheap gear... actually, truly awful gear. I have numerous complaints about them. I still like them for the hot weather breathing... but I should have bought better quality.

I've bought several things from http://www.newenough.com/. They have good comments plus helpful suggestions for sizing, on pretty much every item. Most items have free shipping. We had to return some pants that didn't fit Amy... no problems or hassles. And at checkout... you can check off that they will donate 1 dollar to our favorite R1150R discussion board. I think many of us have had good experience ordering with New Enough.

$0.02 as well . . .

I live in the tropics, so the choices are fairly limited to either polyester mesh or perforated leather. I've got both and perforated leather isn't notably hotter than mesh once you're moving, so I prefer my leather jacket. That said, I'm hoping to buy some Motoport Kevlar mesh gear for the versatility (pockets, hi viz color option, waterproof lining, washable).
